So chance, is there anything you can think of to rectify the situation with the mic that I purchased? I'm willing to send money through the mail.

tell him your name. there are a bunch of unclaimed orders.

so chance, when will we get to hear the big news?

I already gave my email address, but here it is again.

ericcrudup AT msn DOT com.

Sorry I haven't gotten back, but have been very busy.
Actually there are no "unclaimed orders" because all the orders have been paid for. I got a few extras for the sake of, and I doubt it, any DOA's. If there is a problem I can replace it quick.

yeah that's what i meant... (i.e. lucas proud who i remind about the mics every time i see him, and each time he gets all excited because he forgot about it even though i've reminded him a gazillion times.... oh well, worst case scenario, you've got some extra mics at lucas' expense....)

Chance,

When do you think you will know the fate of the acm 300. I'm not sure I would need 2 acm 200s. I guess I'm just wondering how soon I have to make up my mind.

Thanks,
Big Tom

I have to let the manufacturer know ASAP because they have already started manufacturing our other gear. Personally I like the 200 better. I am not saying that to sway anyone, but it has a lot more gain than the 300. Because of time, I am going to make the substitute so as to not slow the manufacturing process down for everyone else. If anyone elects to not accept the substitute, I will refund their money with the rest of their order.

That sounds reasonable to me. I had been wavering between the 2 anyway, ended up with the 300, but will be very happy with the 200.

Thanks for keeping us up to date, Chance.

Did I miss something? What's this about?

A short while ago Chance sent out an email to the folks who had ordered the ACM-300, letting us know that the 300 will not be available in this buy.
In order to keep the ball rolling at the factory, he's substituting the ACM-200 for the 300. For those who don't want the 200 in place of the 300, he's going to do a refund.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. Already had a 200 on order, and don't really need two of them. The 300 looked pretty awesome, so hopefully Chance can swing some sort of deal. Otherwise I'll have to take him up on the refund offer.

Likewise, though I always order in pairs. The last thing I need is four of the phantom-powered double ribbons. :D

If I were going to suggest something that could be done quickly that would be a good alternative, two things come to mind:

1. Modified ACM-200 with the single (long) ribbon motor from the ACM-1. I think this would yield a spectacular sound.
2. ACM-300 with the ACM-2 headbasket.

Either ought to be pretty easy for them to tool up and produce.

GASP!!
I finally came up for some air. Well everything is ordered and paid for and manufacturing has begun. There was quite a bit of communication problems with various subjects. I got so frustrated that I ended up speaking with them and that was worse. They would tell me something that I didn't understand and I would say "huh?" Then they would reply "so sorry Mr Chance we no understand huh"
Any way the ACM-300 was reciently purchased by a name brand as an exclusive. (I wonder who LOL) Because there was not enough time to get back to everyone, I substituted the ACM-200 FET ribbon mic. The price was almost the same and if the 200 is not desired, I will refund your cost of the 300. Someone pointed out that comparing the resale value of the 200 vs the value of a refund, you will still be ahead because you could sell the 200 for more than the refund. Your call. The pre amps will be dark bronze brushed aluminum in colour. I mentioned that "the xfrmrs are not made in China" I might be wrong. They mentioned that "they do not make the xfrmrs and out source them" and I assumed that ment that they imported them. When I cornered and asked them, they said "so sorry, confidential" This is typical with all the new "confidential agreements" with manufacturers not to reveal sources. This is no doubt a result of us revealing (in past group buys) who actually manufactures the brand name mics. I'll continue to update as news comes in.
Oh yeah about the "announcment" we're going to wait until our ship comes in to get things in place.

No news yet on the color of the pre amps, but the xfrmrs ARE NOT from China. Due to confidentiality, they will not reveal what country they are from.

Well,, I was hoping the xfrmrs were NOT from China.

Thought I could help here. I am at the 797 Audio factory as I am here for the Palm Show in Beijing. John MA told me he was selling this Neve clone to you. I can post a photo of the unit if you want, but it is currently Blue in color.

The unit made by 797 Audio definitely uses Chinese transformers, and they usually do not do anodized finishes as it costs too much to do. At $160.00 per unit for the mic pre, I do not think you can expect anything but Chinese transformers.

I can assure you the transformers are Chinese. We passed on these units some time ago, but I am sure you will do well with them.

Good luck with them...If anyone wants photos, I can shoot them tomorrow at 797 Audio....peachh

is it just me or is that rain on our parade? [not trying to be rude]Who are you and what makes you think you know what pre's we've ordered?
