Fellow Geniuses,

I am stuck between buying a Mac or building a PC for my recording needs.

My knowledge base for recording is limited, however I know that I need my setup to record 8 mics on my drums, as well as vocal capabilities.

I am unsure of an interface for now, but what I really would like to know is if you were to build a computer, which components would you use?

I was seriously considering buying a MBP, so price isn't really an issue as long as it's reasonable.

Many thanks

If price isn't an issue you can buy a mac and if needed you can also run windows in it. They are all intel based now, so if you buy high end pc or mac they are all the same. They both are stable and fast. It is your personal choice that counts. PC will be a little cheaper.
The number of inputs and routing flexibility depends on the audio interface you use. List all the conveniences you would like to have and then decide what to buy. for example if you plan to be on the move, use a fire wire laptop setup or atleast a small form factor. If it is a stationary setup use a PCI-E setup with huge processing power.

Choose your recording software, then interface, then carefully choose a system compatable and recommended for what you will be using to record with. Starting with the computer itself is a bad idea. You'll paint yourself into a corner.

That is excelent advice. I second that statement.
