Quick Update on the Payment Process

Hey guys...

As you've all read by now, the merchant account for us to process our GB through, has been approved. Later today, I also received the payment gateway credentials. I already had about 80% of the coding done on our side to make this work... I plugged in the gateway credentials and have pushed several test credit card transactions through the payment gateway without error...it's all working 100% as it should. :)

I have, however, found a small hitch in the way the online/virtual check transactions work... This is not a big deal though... I will be on the phone with the processor first thing in the morning...huumm... it's already morning here!...it's 1:57am EDT...time flies when you're having fun!

At any rate, guys, we are very, very close to wrapping this up... I just need to run a few virtual check test transactions through, tidy up my code a bit, and we'll be golden.

One thing that I completely overlooked during all of this, is the fact that since we'll be taking credit card numbers directly on the User Console site, we should have an SSL certificate, 128 bit encryption...and with all of what's been going on, I didn't think to buy and install one...:( I've just emailed the company that I lease the servers from, to inquire how quickly they can have the SSL cert installed on the domain we're using... Hopefully, it will be hours, in the morning, not days...

More to come... I'll keep you all posted as things happen...

Thanks in advance,

Randy

Considering the worst case scenario, I'm willing to bet the majority of us are willing to wait a few more days, if need be, for the sake of security.

Not a word yet...but I was informed that no one had been hired yet... so I suppose there is still a chance for me to get it...

I suspect government jobs, even on the town or county level, require a fair number of red-taped hoops to be jumped through before they actually extend a job offer. Don't sweat the delay. It may just be how things happen in that mess.

I took a piece of my property up here, combined it with a neighbor's lot, and sold it to a builder. It's been two years and the town still hasn't given final approval to the plan and there's nothing major in it to which they're objecting. Minor tweaks, but each one has to go from agency to agency to agency. Then the beautiful part was when two agencies, building and environmental, were in disagreement over whether one particular tree should or shouldn't come down. The tree argument by itself probably took about three months to resolve during which time the entire process shuts down. We're at the stage now where all the town's agencies' issues have been resolved and the builder can now finally submit a plan for final approval but that is going to take at least another 3 months because the new plans have to be drawn, submitted, scheduled for a hearing to be approved, then rescheduled 6-8 weeks later to be approved again in case someone changed their mind. So yeah, even on the town level things can drag out. Ugh!

WOW,, and I thought WE had problems! LOL

I forgot to mention that the closing for the sale can't happen until the town gets this all approved. So I haven't seen a dime for the sale of this property yet.

On the plus side:D, we negotiated the price at the height of the real estate boom and the buyer has so much money wrapped up in the non-refundable downpayment of the cost of all the town crap, that there's no way he'd back out now. He'd probably have to take somewhere around a 50K-55K loss if he did. But it would be really nice to get that money finally.

US Tax Rebate Alert

Just a monetary aside: a friend of mine got her tax rebate--the one designated as economic stimulus--yesterday, April 24th, a few weeks ahead of the published schedule. $600, deposited directly into her bank account.

For those of you in the US who are eligible, keep an eye out--they are being sent out as we speak!

I've gotten quite a few E-mails regardig changing their order. Apparently some in the USA have gotten a rebate check for $600.00 and want to "up" their order. Up and until the time you actually pay, you can change your order. (up, down, or cancel)

Oh the irony...

All that economic stimulus money going to China... :D

Not me! (I didn't get any rebate--if I had, yep, I'd be upping my order too!)

How so? Either you don't have a SSN, didn't file a tax return, or your income was less than $3000 or more than $87k single or $162k married. Otherwise, you should see the $600 or a part thereof.

I guess you missed the thread where he said he was rich :D

Well, I guess so. But if true, he should be able to up his order ad infinitum. Unless he's married, of course. :D

Bingo...But I can't complain; we both work. So without her income, yeah, I'd get the rebate and maybe up this order. But then without her income, there wouldn't be much leftover to buy musical goodies at all. :D

I'm in your boat... not rich, but not getting a rebate either. Apparently the government feels I'm already doing enough to stimulate the freefalling economy. Long Island is just a damned expensive place to live. When I retire, I'm so out of here... ugh!

Well, I'm not rich, so I'm getting the rebate. But it helps that the mortgage is paid off, the cars are paid off, the kids are through school, out of the house, and self supporting (mostly), and in less than 2 years I'll start collecting SS. I've still got a tractor payment though. And I'm married.

But I've upped my order anyway. :D

That's the funny thing, rich is all relative. If you're single making $88k in Manhattan, you're dirt poor but no rebate for you. If you're a couple making $160k in the middle of Kansas, you own the whole town and still get a rebate.

There was a good cartoon I saw a few weeks back showing the stimulus money starting in China on loan to the US and ending up back in China with Americans buying goods made there at Walmart

Anyway, economics, schmeconomics, gimme my Neve clone! I'll pay with traveler's checks if I have to!

Hey Chance & Randy,

I hate to ask this question but:D....will we have until May 12th to pay our invoice? I'm still wanting to purchase the mic I have on order but the money will not be here until then. I don't want to cause everyone to have to wait for me though.

THANKS!

Earl

What really sucks is that last year, I cleared out a bunch of stock and options, so I was over $87k. This year, I'll be under again as usual, but the economic "stimulus" is based on last year's income....
