I've built a few forums. They are not that hard if you know how.
The fact is...it's harder to get people into them than to build them.

Maybe it could be the go-to place for all the mods and stuff people will be trying.

+10 on the idea of a seperate forum/bbs for TnC
I like the idea of not having to weed through stuff to get the info I'm after. With all due respect to a lot of the guys ( I know we're all excited ) but it'd be nice to just have relevant info on the GB threads, and save the endless back and forth posts about color. C'mon guys, who guys what it looks like at this price - let's just get 'em and use 'em!![]()

It's a bit of melodramatic overstatement to say that worrying about what the advertisers say is the first step towards facism, but the fact is that what the advertisers say can potentially mean the difference between whether an audio site exists or not.
Nah. Most of the overhead of running these sites is caused by them all running their own servers with full-blown hosting instead of banding together and sharing the infrastructure costs. Worst comes to worst, the site admin can migrate the users to a freepowerboards.com board. Free, or $5 a month for ad-free. Not sure about migrating existing messages, though.
How is the board admin going to make any money doing that without any adverts?
I'm operating under the assumption that the board admins of most boards are doing advertising to defray their costs rather than to make money. As always, I could be wrong.
Yeah, forums are not hard to set up...especially the free ones that are hosted on someone else server...
BTW, it is considered bad etiquette, (or in some cases against the rules,) to discuss starting a new forum on another man's forum. People have gotten banned for it. It tends to have "stealing traffic" written all over it.
I'm wondering if the discussion has now turned towards finding a solution to a problem that doesn't yet exist and possibly may never exist. I'm also wondering if the current discussion about starting a new board may wind up causing problems rather than solving them.
Since there is no pressing issue at the moment, maybe we should curtail that kind of discussion until it appears necessary? Just a thought.
But who knows? Maybe Dragon would add a TnC forum if we asked him nicely.
Although premature, I tried to get a mod thread going and it didn't seem too well received.

TnC has brought together a group of maybe 20 or so people who will be wanting to talk about what they've done with and to their mics and pres. Those threads would get buried in a place like this.

Yes, I've seen the same come and go... In the 4 years I've been here there have been many requests for different forum topics to be added...none of which have came to fruition...except for the one that discusses cats...redddog said:Although premature, I tried to get a mod thread going and it didn't seem too well received.
