High Folks,
I'm new to this forum (and to group buys), but I've sat here and read this entire thread.

The entire thread?? You must have been reading for a long long time. LOL
I'm going to try to send a Mass-mail out this afternoon. I might try a mass-test from a different computer in a little bit

Yeah, it's been a few hours since I started reading this. Thanks for the update and the opportunity.

High Folks,
I'm new to this forum (and to group buys), but I've sat here and read this entire thread. This is incredible. Big thanks to Chance, Randy, and everybody else who is making this possible. I just signed up on the group buy page today. Has Chance already announced a cut-off date via e-mail? If so, when is it. I don't want to be left out. A couple of ACM-3's and a 73 (or two) look like a great "investment".

Thanks for your compliments!

No, there has not been a cut-off date set as yet. Chance is due to send out a mass email to the group soon though. Not sure what the contents of the email will be...

On a side note, does anyone know what Edcor tranny is most like the Carnhill's found in old '73's?

Not sure about that... I just racked up a Yamaha PM-1000 last night and I used an Altran C-4000 for my output transformer... I haven't tested this PM-1000 yet, but I've heard some good things about the C-4000 tranny and got a sample to try...

Let us know how that goes. The PM-1000 sounds pretty good by itself, but I've heard great things about it after modification. I think Fletcher from Mercenary Audio has a heavily modified one that he raves about.

I didn't really do any mods, I just recapped this one channel and put in new transistors... I bought 4 channel strips about a year ago and this is the first chance I've had to mess with them...

I was lucky though, they were very, very clean strips... They came from a console that was used at Disney World...

You read this entire thread in a few hours??? Who are you? Evelyn Wood?
I'm calling shenanigans!!!

:-) It's really not that bad. For the most part, it was good reading. I had some questions about the products, but I didn't want to ask until I researched it myself. The folks over at Gearslutz can be a little insistant about reading before asking. I guess I've been conditioned. lol

Can these transformers be ordered direct from the manufacturer? Any idea what they cost?

Thanks :)

It's a shame to see those old consoles get butchered, but I'm sure you're not complaining! Congrats on the new gear.

Well...I'm not sure... This sample was sent to me about a year ago... They had a minimum order of like a dozen or something... I really only needed 2, but the guy only sent me 1 sample... Thus why I only racked one of these strips thus far.

Let me go back through my emails and see if I can find where he and talked... I'll let you know shortly...

Two? Maybe the first one that failed at first, was stored, then went through.
The first one was sent from Randy as a test. At least that's what it said.

This is a test email from the Musician's Workshop Group Buy System. This is ONLY a test in preparation for a message that will be sent later today by Chance.

THIS IS ONLY A TEST. PLEASE DISREGARD AND DELETE THIS MESSAGE.

Thanks in advance,

Randy
