Maybe the footswitch is fucked up. Unplug it and see what you get.

I get nothing. Should it work without the footswitch?

I'm dragging it back to GC tomorrow night.

This will the third AC30CCH I've returned. The second with no reverb. The first didn't have any leds and also had a loose power connection.

WTF? I just need a reliable fucking head under 50w.

Keeping it under a grand would be nice too. Suggestions?

Oh, yeah. I never even use the footswitch since I haven't gigged with it yet.

I get reverb and tremolo on both channels without the footswitch.

You're right - that amp is fucked up. Take it back. That's odd that you've had this problem with two - they're generally seen as reliable.

This will be number three.

I think somebody is trying to tell me something.

I think maybe a whole shipment got thrown off the truck onto the loading dock. "Oops, that box said 'Fragile,' didn't it? Oh, well!"

Try a Crate V-series 30 watter. The model numbers differ depending on the color of the vinyl on the outside. They made some Just for GC called "Palomino V-32" I have two of them. a 1x12 and a 2x12. They have 4 EL84s just like the AC30... and a Celestion, or you can get a speaker upgrade, a "Tone Tubby" or something. I really love mine, and have had zero problems out of them. Half the price of a AC30, too.
The problem is, those 30 watt tube amps are still stinkin' loud. And you gotta turn em up to really make them sound good. Here's mine recorded... it's just me and a couple of friends set up live in the studio, having a good ole time playin' stuff we used to gig with...

Good luck!

You know what, Shawn? I've had one over here and checked it out as a loaner while I waited for my AC30. I'm very tempted, just to run my motionsound 1x12. It sounded great. The pots were pretty scratchy, though. Any issues with yours at all?

Honestly, the only issue I've had is the springs in the reverb tank ratteling. It took a while to figure this one out. The tank is mounted in the bottom of the cab with rubber insulators and screws. What you have to do is loosen the screws so they aren't holding the tank so tightly to the bottom of the cab, and it quits! I love the sound of these amps.
I was even in an accident with my equipment van while the amp was loaded in it... reminds me of that old suitcase commercial from tv, where the monkey tossed the suitcase around, stomped on it and everything, and it was still OK. My jewel lamp fell off, but never had any other problems... my van wasn't so lucky.... $15,000 worth of damage... and we won't even talk about the reconstructive surgery I had to have on my wrist!
Buy that Crate!

if your after foo fighters type sound...dave grohl uses rectos...however, if you want a sweet clean...ac30 all the way. If your using more distortion than clean, go recto..hands down.

Unless you prefer the distortion of the AC30 to the Mesa, or the clean of the Mesa to the AC30.

yeah.....but isnt this really all to do with the british tube vs the american tube...

so if its west coast ur into then the messa and vox for brit...

i think its down to personal taste so foo fighters will almost tell you what to buy.

personally i got a little fed up with the sickly sweet mesa distortion ..sort of like a one trick pony .

and as some guys mention there are a lot of units you can throw in front of an ac if you ever want to go there...my guess is it would be a little harder to do the ac30 thing through a recto...

... if i ever get the chance i will get an ac30.

fair enough ....i was just responding to the previous post and assumed what he said to be true...so you can turn your caps lock off and take a rest before you have another turn.:D

Nope, not my cap lock! Copy/pasted just as I found it on guitargeek.com.:)

yeah i thought that was odd....sorry....but obviously dave has got the same idea....have both!! :)

Of course, if you are talking about a new AC30 with master volume and all, you won't get the AC30 distortion with that either. The AC30 distortion is all about the power tubes.

That's not true at all. I had an AC30CC for a long time and had the chance to compare it to an early 90's AC30 and an Orange AD30 and the CC held it's own and they were all in the same tonal catagory. In fact, I recorded the AD30 and AC30CC and panned on to the left and the other to the right and blindly, everyone in the room actually picked the CC. I was actually the only one the prefered the Orange. Of course I cranked the CC's Master volume. Everyone knows that cooking the power tubes gets you the nicest overdrive. The CC gets a lot of crap but it really is a great sounding amp when you run it thru the right speakers.
