Here is a NEW mix of a song I recorded for a friend a couple years ago.

Forgotten

Let me know what you think.

Thanks.

love the effect on the vocals.

i can't comment on improving the recording as I don't have a clue but the music sounds good to me.

in general the drums sound great, but the cymbals sound a bit harsh/'trebley', but I am listening through PC speakers so take that with a pinch of salt.

Nice panning on the overheads? The rolls are quite "moving". What kind of guitar chain are you recording here?

Vocals - The telephone effect is good but there is a big difference between the vocal sounds. The "regular" vocal sounds "dry" or something. I have no idea what I would do to change it it's just my impression when listening. I'll try and think of some other tunes that have the different vocals and see if anything comes from that. I'm thinking Beatles - Lucy in the Sky or something like that....where the vocals differ but are not as different....

Other than that the recording is good for me...

I usually don't put verb on the cymbals, and the one I used can make somehting harsh even more so. Thanks for pointing that out.

I shall try to balance the two vocals better and remove the verb off of the "Telephonish" voice. The main guitar was a PRS going through a MB Tripple Rec and I want to say the Cab was a Peavey Shefield 4x12. I cannot remember the exact mic I used it was either a Beta 87 ot an AKG C4000B. My mic pre was a 990 modified channel from an MCI JH-416. The output transformers were removed from that board too. The drums when through the regular modded chanels, everything else when through the 990 one.

This recent mix was done in SONAR 6 summed through a Mackie LM3204.

I actually like it as is. - maybe some bvox on the uneffected section?
Cool - drums good
Bass good too.
