Hello!
So i'm creating a mini-studio in my apartment, i just finished turning my walk-in closet into a semi-iso room big enough to house a full drum kit
D) and am recording primarily with sm57/58s.
I also just purchased an M-Audio Sputnik. I'm currently using a M-audio project mix as my recording interface with Logic 7 (soon to be logic 8) and ProTools M-powered 7.
I would like to use an independent preamp for my sputnik, i feel like a tube pre would be a little overkill as the sputnik is a tube mic as it is, I know a little bit about various pres, but i cant decide what to spend my money on. Right now i'm watching a couple M-audio tampas on e-bay and will pick one up if its relatively cheap.
My budget for 1 mic pre is $200 (although i'll spend $300 if i can find a stereo pre worth buying)
P.S. I'm not an M-audio fanboy or anything ive just ended up with alot of m-a gear by circumstance
