I'm upgrading my computer, and I need a midi compatible soundcard, and I was looking at Sound Blaster X-Fi elite pro. Has anyone used it, and are they satisified with the soundcard.
I have currently soundblaster live, for the midi sounds, and use an echo mia soundcard which I'm happy with, but I know there are much better cards out there.
So anything good or bad to say about the x-fi elite??

Now-A-Days most of the MIDI stuff is USB. You might want to try something like Reasons & have plenty of sounds, or grab a few vsts. I personally wouldn't use soundblasters for audio production...

Don't get a Soundblaster for music. They are great for movies, games, and all that, but not really much cop for music. Sure, you could manage with it, but you can get a way better card for way cheaper as far as audio production goes.

Gamer card.Gamer card.Gamer card.Gamer card.Gamer card.Gamer card.Gamer card.Gamer card.

Creative drivers cause many headaches for music production.

You DONT need a Creative card for midi.
You can use soundfonts for the midi sounds with ANY soundcard using the free SFZ soundfont player from rgcaudio.com
(and it'll sound BETTER than on the Creative cards...)

Good soundcard guide and suggestions HERE:

Ok thanks everyone that answered concerning soundblaster cards. I will try and find a better alternative.

+1 to that. SFZ is awesome.

When Sound-Disaster adds "Pro" to the name...
