This is just one of many shareware plugs that work well. There are bunch of others. Go to KVR and do a search. Even with the ones that don't sound good, you still might learn something.

i have a few different compressors that came in a few Waves bundles i had just wanted to know if i have top notch shit or which ones are considered top-end and which ones aren't meant to be used for song recording....

wavearts.com TrackPlug, I use it, it works well. Not the cheapest out there, but if you're a student, you can easily get half off the price.

Waves compressors are pretty good. I like the L2 limiter and the c4 multiband.
Not a huge fan of their single band c1. renesance vox (sp?) works pretty well on vocals and can be used in other applications as well.

as far as single band compression I am using VC 64 in sonar and I love it.

It's made my Kjaerhus audio and they have thier version for sale. It's a channel strip actually. I believe that the Kjaerus version is the GAC-1.

The have some nice free stuff at thier site as well. The classic series is all free and worth getting for sure.

Really you ought to be able to get good results with the waves stuff.

oh ok, i have the Renaissance Bundle amongst others, and actually i've been using the Rvox on this last song i was mixing, and i can say that alone got my vocals soundin cool, i think i need to EQ afterwards or beforehand to take away some unwanted air thats present once the track is played in my windows media player, but other than that, i think i've been able to play around and come up with a few decent mixdowns using as little plug-ins as possible.....

thanks for the suggestions everybody and feel free to add more, i like variety!!
