I couldn't spend as much time on this as I would have liked. So, I'm opening it up to contributions from the crowd. In particular, it could use some drums! (Phil?) The page linked above includes links to files containing the individual tracks. Anybody up for a remix/mashup/add-on?

Sadly, my server is pretty slow; so be prepared for some lo-o-o-o-ng downloads, especially if you opt for the higher quality files.

This is a great thread!

Here’s a cover of “In My Life” that my oldest daughter, Julie, and I recorded in 1989 or 1990 when she was at home during a Holiday break from college.

We recorded 2 guitar tracks and her vocal to a Tascam Portastudio using an old SM58 type mic (Unidyne?......Unishere?) on all 3 tracks.

Fortunately, the tape survived cleanly enough to be brought to digital format.

Well, he got a little distracted with The Swannanoa Gathering...:o (see my website for video montage, and YouTube for performance video...) Sorry bout that!! He's back now and when he gets organized, he'll get the remaining musical stuff back to the front burner...

Truly superb cover but I sure wish you hadn't used any post production processing on this song, namely the rather drastic noise reduction. IMHO, you should have left the original cassette recording as is, tape hiss, warts et al... ;)

This thread inspired me, so I'm working on a Flying cover right now. I need to get a hold of a bass guitar first, but its gonna be cool. Its a lot slower and has an organ solo in it.

Monkey... yup, all live, one take performance recordings. I usually record 9 or 10 per show, and of those, I'll get 4 or 5 that are mix-worthy.

All the songs I've posted in this thread are live tracks.
 
FINALLY!!!

SO sorry for the very long delay; after Swannanoa, I got a bug up my ass and gutted and remodeled my studio...

Finally, I got the drums dialed in and did DonF's drums for Ob-La-Di. I also added a guitar part 'cause it seemed to want it.



(Randy, adding Rami's solos to Winter is next up... )

I forgot to mention, this is a nice, tender arrangement and performance...
