Here Comes the Sun

Not much like the original. A stylized version, heh. I might still add a bass to it.

Edit: just tweaked the EQ and uploaded again.

Really dug your version...very nice guitar...great job!!

That one rocks,...

dude!.............. ;)
I think you're hitting it on every level with that one. ;)

Thanx Reel and Track.....It's always easier to do a tune when the parts are already there for you to copy.....:D :D :D

Whoa Rami that's upped the ante somewhat!!

Without sounding too American.......... That was AWESOME!!I loved it, can't wait for some more. The guitar playing and vocals were great and the production sounded spot on too.

So what the hell give us some more!

LIVE from the stage of The Britins:

I Feel Fine

amazing to think the Beatles went from that, in 1964, to this in 1968:

Helter Skelter

Then to this in 1969:

Golden Slumbers/The End

All one-take performance recordings.

Just listened too Golden Slumbers/The End....Fan-bloody-tastic! :p ...I don't think I can ever try and cover a Beatles tune again :D ! I am humbled...

LCL and variaxman - thanks, but I think you're being very kind to my vocal skills. :o

I'm still working on an instrumental arrangement of it.

Great cover. It's got the Beatles style, but your own too.
Thanx Tim.....forgot about this thread, though I think this is a thread that will never die.

Let's hope not. :) This is the longest living thread I've had on any board anywhere.

GREAT take on the tune, hoss!!!! The tambo brings it home.

OK, I've been listening to the Fab Four a bit lately, and I remembered a really neat Beatles tune my father in law and I did, so I thought I'd start a Beatles cover thread! If you have done a Beatles tune, post it here, and tell the story!

My father in law and I are working up a little folk-comedy duo (think Smothers Brothers - meets Gordon Lightfoot or something...), we're gonna do a bunch of bawdy traditional folk songs, and some more current (well, more current than 100 years ago) singer songwriter stuff mixed in.

I arranged this version of In My Life for a compilation CD on another board; my father in law Bob is on the two main guitar parts and the vocals, I'm on bass, the four synthesized string parts, the brief guitar solo, and the aux percussion. It's a much more tender, lush, and delicate arrangement than the stock Beatles one. I like it better from an arranging perspective, but ya can't beat the original in a lot of ways, right?

Anyway, here ya go! Take a listen, post your thoughts, and post your songs!

In My Life - Bob Hicks and Phil Traynor

Since the original post died fast and quiet, I thought I'd bookend for those who start reading at page 21... :)

The thread goes on ...

Bra-la-la how the thread goes on...

O-Bla-Di, O-Bla-Da

I couldn't spend as much time on this as I would have liked. So, I'm opening it up to contributions from the crowd. In particular, it could use some drums! (Phil?) The page linked above includes links to files containing the individual tracks. Anybody up for a remix/mashup/add-on?

Sadly, my server is pretty slow; so be prepared for some lo-o-o-o-ng downloads, especially if you opt for the higher quality files.
