Hello

ok. I got my Mackie all set up except for the connection to my computer.

What I want out of the mixer is just something I can plug my instruments/mics into and record from my mixer. I'm probably not going to do the mixing with my Mackie, i'll do that within my DAW. And I also want to be able to hear my mix from monitors and headphones plugged into the Mackie.

The only thing I've got so far is 2 mic cables that are going to go from the Main L/R output to the Delta's 2 mic inputs. From what I got from the Delta's manual, those inputs are set to microphone line level, and there is a jumper that I can change to make it an operating line level of +4dbu. The XLR main outputs on the Mackie says "its capable of driving +4dbu lines with up to 28 db of headroom. Also theres a switch next to the outputs that allows me to reduce the level balance by 40dbu. Would I need to change the jumpers on the Delta? or would it be fine to plug in right now. I dont want to try for fear of ruining something :D

Also I have my two monitors connected into the 1/4 inch control room L/R output jacks on the mackie. I can hear through these when I play instruments on the mixer, but will I be able to hear the mix from my computer also? or do I need to do some more connecting.

Is there anything else I really need to connect to the computer? 2 mic cables seems like im skimping out on something.

thanks again guys

I have a Mackie 1202 as my only mixer and instead of the sound card I have the xlr outputs of the board plugged into my monitors, then I use the Mackie to monitor the separate outputs of my soundcard. I use 1/4" to 1/4" cables to come from the outs of my soundcard into the mixer but since the Delta 1010lt has RCA (or 'phono') jacks you're going to need some adapters to turn a 1/4" plug into an RCA plug.

Your Delta 1010lt has 2 microphone preamps built in and they're probably about as good as preamps in the Mackie. Try them first and if you feel they sell your instruments or vocals short post again and I'll fill you in on how to use one or two channels of the Mackie board as inputs for your soundcard.

i tried both of them out and I do like the mackies preamps slightly better, but I want to use the mackie as inputs more so for convenience. Those breakout cables make a mess behind my computer :D

Try this.

Since you're only using a few microphones at a time, leave the XLR outs of the Mackie plugged into your speakers and use the 'to the first click' trick laid out in the Mackie documentation on the first two or three channels. Then connect the 1/4" cables into the first two or three line inputs of your Delta card.

Connect the outputs of the Delta card to the remaining channels of the Mackie for monitoring purposes.
