Hello,
I've had to get a replacement computer as the 1999 motherboard in my old one spat the dummy.
I've reinstalled Cakewalk 9.3 and my Inca88 card - both had a nice relationship in the last comp.
I've been getting a message on my INCA manager screen that says IRQ conflict.
I've looked up all the info I can but really don't understand what to do. I know I have to sep the card IRQ priority from other hardware BUT do I do this for the vards management pro or the list of I/O's that also come up in the device manager/properties screen.
I've disabled the inbuilt sound card.
What can I downgrade, lower in priorities?
I only use the machine to record so I don't need much else to be to the fore. On thsi machine I use cakewalk, waverepair & media player but not much else
I'm rather at a loss with this, sorry.

From personal experience: When I added my second M-Audio Delta 410 awhile back (I was running two, at that point) I got a similar IRQ conflict message. My solution was pretty straight forward, I changed the PCI slot the second card was situated in, until I hit a slot that did not result in the message. Not certain that this will solve your problem, but it'd be worth a shot.

That should fix it, with a little experimentation. I don't remember what exactly the IRQ number of each PCI slot means, but I know multiple PCI slots can have the same one, and some devices can't operate unless they have their own unique number (from what I recall), or they at the very least can't share that number with other particular PCI cards. So, try swapping it to another slot.

I had read about changing slots & was hoping I wouldn't have to open it up again - I still don't moving stuff inside a comp - after all these years - still afraid I'll kill it I suppose.
Since the consensus is change slots - and supported by the literature thanks Ido - that's what I'll have to do.
Thankyou folks.
I'll report back if I'm unsuccesful.

I moved the card & all appears to be OK. I'm going to do a little mixing work in a few minutes so I'll come back moaning if the problems persists.
Thanks folks!

You can also go into the motherboards BIOS screen and turn off services you don't need like printer port, modem, on-board sound (in particular). In fact, I would recommend you do this before installing any pci cards as the IRQ's seem to shuffle after each reconfiguration.
