Micro-BR or BR-600?

Hey Gorty, I did a blind listening test with my BR. I recorded a commercial cassette onto it, then played the original cassette deck back at the same time as the BR. I mixed up the cables so I wouldn’t have any idea which I was listening to. I thought one of the sources sounded slightly better. More definition and a bit more punch, so I decided that must be the original cassette playing. WRONG!!! I think the BR actually sounded slightly better than the original. Amazing. So once again I’ve proven to myself that all the arguing about 16/44 versus the higher bit and sample rate is a waste of time. Tape too. People must convince themselves that one sounds better than the other just for the sake of argument.

so now are you talkin about the micro-br or the 600? i just discovered the micro yesterday at guitar center... i was so happy to see a 5 page thread about it here but holyshit this thread is all over the place.

It was the 600, but the Micro should give the same results. Just easier to do the comparison with the 600 because of the control panel. :) I had to have both...I'm a gear junky. :D

Gorty you're a sad shit!!!

Fucking PEDO!!! PEDO Alert!! PEDO Alert!!

its not a question of which one sounds better, but what you want to do. all the br's pretty much sound the same.

There are actually a few posts in this thread worth reading! :p

I picked up a BR 600 a little while ago, used, for $260. I love this little machine! It has started a whole new round of GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) with me!
I'm still working on my first song recording -have bounced down 6 tracks (4 guitar, one stereo keys) plus rhythm to one stereo track, and now have 3 vocal tracks plus another stereo keyboard set to add to the mix, just working on the final acoustic guitar lead track.
I was looking at mics, but can't see that I will find one inexpensive mic good for both vocals and acoustic guitar that will be any better than the built-in mics!
I love that with the virtual tracks, you can keep all of your original recorded tracks after doing a mix-down, so if you decide to remix, all the info is right there.
When I'm done Mastering, I will "drag and drop" everything to my computer for safe-keeping, then convert the mastered tracks to WAV - that might be the only drawback to this recorder, that you can't convert all the tracks to WAV at the same time.

Question!

I haven't explored all possible options, but did not see either 3/4 or 6/8 time scale available in the rhythm part of this device? My next project is in 6/8 time, and I don;'t need a drum part, but do need to keep time measure-wise.
