I’m really having trouble getting my head around this, if anyone has a link to a tutorial or can offer guidance I really need to be able to get this down.
I am using Cubase 3sx, EZ drummer and I have just purchased a M-Audio Axiom 49 midi controller. I have some really great Midi drum patterns on my hard drive and I am currently dropping them into a Cubase track with EZ drummer set as the VSTi and they play fine. My problem is that the patterns are really short and I have to keep pasting one to the end of another to make them longer (not to mention the problem of getting the fills and breaks in the right spot).
What I hope I can do is this… link a Midi pattern to one of the pads on my Axiom and arm the EZ drummer track, hit record and press the pad and have the drum pattern play and record until I release the pad. I would like to assign several patterns like this (intro, verse, fills and ending…I have six pads) and play and record them in real time on the EZ drummer track.
In a perfect world I would like to record a song start to finish using a guitar and a click on an audio track and then go back and record drums on the fly using EZ drummer and my pads playing the Midi patterns.
I have read posts until my eyes are bleeding but I still don’t even know if this is possible. The salesman at Guitar Center who sold me the keyboard wasn't much help and I printed and read the entire manual and came up blank.
If I convert the Midi patterns to short wav files can I do it? I can do the conversion but after that I’m lost. Any help or direction would be GREATLY appreciated, but remember I need it simple !!!!!!
I am trying to love Midi but it's like trying to love a woman who keeps kicking you in the nuts.
Thanks
Rick
