Someone just gave me one and I know nothing about it. I think I downloaded the drivers but not sure yet. I don't have a firewire to plug it in yet, will get one soon. From what I read as long as you have a 6 pin firewire plug you don't need to use the wallwart? Anyways, any help with this thing would be welcome. I have the manual downloaded and am beginning to read it. What kind of software do I need with this? I don't have the discs that would have come with it. I went to their site where I downloaded the drivers and manuals but didn't see anything for the software for it? What else besides the firewire connection, softwear etc., will I need to get this thing up and going?
I have a 3.2 mhz processor, 528 meg ram, 200 gig hard drive and a couple of firewire ports.

I guess no one else here has one of these units? Anyways, I went to Staples to get a firewire and they wanted $29.95. No way Jose. I have seen them on the net for five bucks including the shipping; whats up with Staples?

I have a FW 410. The 6 pin cable does provide power.

A good place for inexpensive high-quality cables is monoprice.com.

cool, thanx, if the one I ordered for five bucks doesn't work I will check them out.

received the firewire today and plugged her in and she fires up. Downloaded the drivers and the computer installed the new hardware so, so far I guess everything is working. Will have to try and record something.

I use to own one of those, the thing to remember is to never hotplug the firewire cable! it will destroy the port always turn the computer off when unpluging it!!!!!!!!!!
