I have read the whole thread both then and now. You should take a look as post number 7,9,11 and 13. Good exchange of information and a coming to understanding.

Talon made some offensive comments in post 7 that were not let slide in post number 14. And again I want to point out that I truely thought that You were Talon and were out to stir things up. And so did Dr Zee I expect (but don't speak for him).

I think that Beck summed it up very well in post number 15. Might want to look at post 31 too.

You might want to re-read it again yourself.

I just re-read that thread. Somehow I don't see where I did any wrong and after post #3 it just takes off from there. I gave what I thought was great advice on the difference between tape machines and the thread just went down to insults.

If some people can't see the difference between pro anything and non-pro anything, they are just ill informed.

I just told what I have experience in and the equipment I have personally owned and/or used. Those differences may piss of some, but they are set in stone and exist. I guess I read the thread differently and I don't see where the original poster (Talon) was out of line. Maybe you can set me straight.

That's one of the problems with having a member like acorec with a history of harassing, getting banned and creating new IDs to continue his course. It can stifle the forum. I've even refused to respond to questions from new members at times (and still do) because they sounded like acorec/MCI2424 baiting.

So Dragon, if you ever stop by and read this... there are good reasons to ban habitual trolls consistently.

They can indeed ruin a forum.

We are cleaning the pond, and you have it completely wrong... probably because you don't have it completely. This isn't for the uninformed to jump in and start guessing. It's very simple. We have one major troll problem caused by one major troll, MCI2424 who is negatively affecting the interactions between other members. This is what trolls do.

I’m sure you’d be surprised to learn that wildlife managers poison the pond on occasion to save it, and wildland firefighters start smaller backfires to fight a more threatening fire.

But to those members that think we should just spend our time answering your questions rather than deal with other forum matters like house keeping issues (which someone has to deal with) I say this…

i really do appreciate the people with the background, education and experience that take their time to answer people's questions. they are an invaluable resource to the music and recording world. what i can't stand is people with the background, education and experience who are also egotistical, rude, and demoralizing. one would think a technical question could be answered without throwing opinions, emotions, and ego into the mix...(after all, i'm sure everyone asking wants their pesky tech problem out of the way, so they can concentrate on the actual important aspect of recording: music.) but this is a message board. everyone's answers comes with opinion. everything you read, you have to take with a grain of salt, and come up with your own conclusion. there's some smart people on this board, however correcting someone else's false comments usually always comes with a personal blow. the uninformed are smirked at or ignored completely. people trying to learn their art and in search of help have to deal with 'newb' taunts, and people crapping all over other people's suggestions. i ask, "why the witchhunt?" and your response belittles and shows the biggest problem with this messageboard: lack of common courtesy.

this is the exact path i've taken. i've spent a couple years cobbling together my little studio. and always just when i think i'm done, something comes up that would be useful to buy...or worse...something breaks. i've spent lots of time reading books, and pouring over manuals...getting in there and just recording is obviously the most helpful. trial and error. i can't tell if you were trying to be insulting with your remarks...the process quoted above was just too funny and too true.

i don't know the long history of mci and beck and you dr. zee...and frankly i don't really care. i only read this thread, and a few that were quoted, and in those...you guys seem to be far more repugnant. again, just my opinion, so don't fly off the handle.
