Hi i don't really want to have to bounce but I've run out with 8. Probably needed 12 .Theoretical question is if I had a double tracked guitar panned at 10 and 2 o'clock could I bounce them onto one track retaining that panning "image " . Or does all go to the centre .

    Yes.

What you could consider, assuming you have other "double" or stereo tracks...is to submix a couple of pairs down to two tracks.
Like your double tracked guitars and a pair of drum overheads....so you would bounce 4 down to 2, which opens 2 tracks.
Heck, you don't have to just use track pairs...you could also add to the above your bass track...or whatever...and what you are doing is creating a 2-track submix.
So in effect, you could take your 8 tracks and bounce them all down to two.

Of course...once you bounce/mix to two...you have to be sure that those tracks are just how you want them later on.

One question...what are you bouncing from...and to what?
    Are you dealing with tape...or...???

Using tascam dp008ex . Digital . Yes maybe create a sort of stereo master of the main backing track onto a pair then leave the acoustic inputs ie guitar vocal onto separate tracks . Thanks for the advice

Yes, you should bounce to a stereo track to preserve your panning.
