TSR-8 v 8-80

Looking to buy my first tape machine.. my Boss BR1600 is not doing it for me.

Narrowed my seach down to these two.. I can't find a 8-8O in the UK.
Managed to track down a TSR though.. Spare new tape,metal reel and leads.

Are these suitable for me and my home studio. Guitar, bass, drum machine, vocal's and harp.. I love Neil Young :o

I would say yeah, they're suitable. I love Neil Young too. :o :D
 
The TSR-8 is microprocessor-controlled. As a result, the transport is a joy to use. It can also be easily programmed to perform automatic punch-ins, after which it rewinds to the start of the segment so you can retry or replay the section containing the punch-in. And as mentioned, it's got built-in DBX.

With the 80-8 you'd need a separate DBX module if you want noise reduction, and you'd need a remote control if you intended to do one-man punch-ins the way I work.

The flipside is that the 80-8 is easier to repair over the longer haul. (Of course, being 30 years old or more, it will need it)
