Splicing block

I'm looking for a splicing block. I've found these two on the Web:

@ some other place

The big difference between the two is that the former costs $79 and the latter costs $33.95. Is there really any reason to purchase the more expensive one? I can't see why it would matter.

Looks like the first one has a groove for a straight cut and the second one doesn't. Don't know if it makes a difference to you but it shouldn't double the price. Have you asked around here if anyone has one? I have an extra 1 inch one but no 1/4 inch ones. Can any of you tape dogs help out?
