YouTube - Ampex MM-1000
The owner of the machine and the studio who's an acquaintance of mine sent this to me in an email...had to share it here. He was really self-depracating about the quality of the video production but I think its pretty cool and shows an MM-1000-16 going through all its paces...The MM-1000 is his backup machine. His main 2" machine is an MM-1200-16 with all the goodies (additional rolling guides, Flux Magnetics ME playback head, etc.)...he was thinking about selling the MM-1000 as it didn't get used much and he was having some issues with it, but he resolved them with a 24V PSU rebuild and in the process changed his mind about getting rid of it. Nothing like an Ampex MM-1000 in looks or sound.
