Mics into acoustic amp?

That's not splitting. It's mixing. You might get away with using a splitter to mix, but it is not ideal. If nothing else, since XLRs are unidirectional you'll have the wrong jacks to work with. He needs a mixer.

He was tryin to avoid buying more gear since it's just a live duo act and the 2 of em trying to share a mic. (He says his partner in crime has bad breath. :p )
No paying gigs. Just friends and fambly.

I get the mix of it wouldn't be ideal but do you think it would screw anything up...overloaded circuit etc...if he just split em?

There are several mic combiners out there, from A-T, ART, Galaxy etc. That would be one way. Or look for a used Shure mic mixer like the M67, M68 or M688. They have four mic inputs with level controls, a master level control and mic level XLR output.
