256 DDR 2100.Works fine for me with N-TRACK.No midi or softsynth, and I'm only using 16bit wav.files,so it's not pushing the system much. Not too many plug ins either.

512MB PC3200 TwinMOS Winbond. Latency 1.5-2-2-5.

You guys with high quality brand RAM should check how low you can set your latencys in BIOS.

Damn.

512 pc100 w/ a Celeron 800.

And it does whatever I want it to do. No problemo. But I run a tight ship.

512mb DDR 333, AMD 2100, Overclocked to 2700, no problems, will be getting another 512mb to take advantage of the duel channel memory bandwidth in the nForce MB!

Corsair 1GB (2X 512MB) PC 3200 400MHz DDR, Cas 2, ASUS A7N8X motherboard (nForce 2 chipset), AthlonXP 3000+, Aardvark Direct Pro 2496 sound card.

...Dis thang don't stutter unless I wants it to!! :)

in a 2000/xp system 512 megs should be the minimum, they really start shining with 1 gig and up. These operating systems are better at addressing ram then the older 9x systems. Although applications like photoshop under 98 would see quite a bit of improvement with over 512 megs despite the fact that a lot of people say that operating system cannot address that much ram. Also single modules perform faster than multiple modules, i.e. a single stick that is 1 gig outperforms two 512 sticks and the lower amount of chips on a stick positively effect its performance. I am still in xeon/rdram land but i am now eyeing dual ddr boards and pentium hyperthreading chips. I'm a mac hater although i have a dual g4 system, but i'll be damned if the new g5's don't look tempting.

1 Gig of ram on a Pent III 1.7 Ghz machine. I never have any stutters or pops. I have had 24 tracks open with effects running with no problems.

For Windows XP, 256mb is the minimum IMO.

In 256mb, the operating system will consume about 128mb of the address space. This leaves 128mb for useful work.

I just installed XP Pro on a modest Athlon 1.1 GHz owned by my conga player. He has 768 mb of PC100 memory, and his performance is entirely satisfactory. Win2000 and XP will utilize all the memory you provide them. The Win98/ME kernels will waste it on disk cache.

The nForce powered boards will utilize two sticks very effectively and switch to Dual Memory Controller mode. There is a modest performance boost here. A pair of 256 sticks will run a bit faster than a single 512 stick in this board.

I'm a newbie at recording, so I don't yet know how much RAM is required for intense tracking work. Get 512 to 1gb if you have XP and the cash to afford it.

I'm currently using 256 of DDR in Win 98se with a 1.8 Athlon, but my new computer is gonna kick that baby's ass........

2.4 Pentium, Intel Motherboard, a gig of DDR ram, one 80 gig HD, and one 30 gig. This is all for my new Delta 1010lt. Perfect!

Switched from 1Gb DDR @266 to 1Gb DDR @333 (and from Athlon 2,200+ to a 2,600+) The difference is not immediately noticeable but it's there, I notice it on heavy projects = lots of plugins and VSTi's...
