Hi all,
I'm looking to get a mobile studio setup when I get my powerbook and I don't want to spend more than $1500 on the interface. I've read good things about both the rme multiface and the metric halo 2882 but haven't found too many threads that compares them due to the fact that one...
This is a reel to reel I just won from an auction on ebay. I tried researching it, but came up with nothing substantial. The price was too good, so I bid on it anyway. Can anyone tell me if this thing sucks or not?
Auto-Tec reel to reel
Thanks,
Eric
must refrain from exploding... ok... for some reason my topaz won't go on (i'm guessing something's wrong with the power supply). I don't know why it would break... maybe it's because every piece of anything i buy breaks for no reason. Anyway... does anyone know how I can possibly fix...
Hey, I'm 16 and I'm using this song to get into college. It's from my band, and was recorded and mixed in my living room. It would be so helpful if you guys could suggest improvements that I could make to the track, etc.
Thanks in advance,
Julie

I really would like to upgrade my current OH pair (Shure BG4.1s). I can't decide whether to get AKG 451bs or a pair of AKG 414 buls. I know it is another LD vs. SD question, but I really would like to know which to get.
Thanks in advance,
Eric
Okay, please forgive me, but being of the younger generation of engineers, I have taken my first steps in recording with a digital mixer (until I realized that I hated it), so I have no clue as to how analog consoles work. I just bought a Soundtracs Topaz (very very excited), and I have not yet...
please don't hurt me for this... i need trs cables to hook up from the inserts on mixer to my motu 1224 (8 tracks) and i was wondering if i bought 4 stereo balanced trs cable if i could use it to connect all of the channels (i.e. - left of first cable goes out of channel one from my mixer into...
Could anyone tell me where I can find a used Soundtracs Topaz (besides on ebay)? Even if you tell me other online trading sites, that would be great.
Thanks in advance,
Eric
I really want a new pair of overhead mics (right now I'm using shure bg4.1s), but I can't decide whether to use SD or LD condensers. My setup is only four mics (i don't like close micing the toms). I am willing to spend up to $600 for the pair. The SD condensers I am looking at are (in no...
I'm getting rid of my current daw, and I need help in choosing a new one (under $3000). My top choices are:
1) Tascam Dm-24 and Sek'd card ~ $2700
2) Motu 1224, Lucid 96k clock, Soundcraft m8, and Motor Mix ~ $2400
3) The new pretty Digi 002 ~ $2500
Which would you recommend? Or is there...
Ok, I'm thinking about buying the motu 1224 for around $500 used, but I might not need all of those channels. On the other hand, I could buy a lucid a/d 96k converter and an maudio dio 2496 card to go with it and have it all come to ~$950. Is it worth twice the dough to only have two channels...
I know the subject of converters has been strecthed out here at the hr bbs, but I have yet to find a clear answer. What is the best converter (8 or more channels) for under $2000 to use with nuendo?
Thanks in advance,
Eric

Right now, I use a Shure KSM-32 into a Mindprint Envoice, and while the sound is good, I would like to get a higher end vocal mic to expand the selection in my cabinet. I don't really want to spend over $1100, so what are my choices. I have yet to own a multi-pattern mic, so that may influence...
I want to get automation for my newly analog studio (I'm planning on buying a soundcraft m8). All the analog consoles I see with automation are thousands of dollars, and I don't need 32 channels just to have fancy faders. I was looking around, and some companies make separate automation, like...
I'm looking to totally change my studio (a tascam digital mixer and pci-822), and I was very close to buying a motu 1224 ($600) on ebay or clearance at soem music stores), cubase sx (~$550), and houston (~$1100). I never really considered paris, because I thought it was very expensive. Well...
I tried posting this in the analog only forum, but apparently no one reads that, so I'll post it here:
I have an all digital studio but I would like to get a reel to reel recorder to make it more professional. I know 2 inch machines are the best way to go, but my pockets tell me that that setup...
I'm looking for a nice keyboard (I'll be doing any type of music). I've been looking at the Korg n364 and the new E-mu proteus (pk-6 i think). Which do you think would be a better buy?
Thanks in advance,
Eric
