The new Suhr "Pro Series" guitars

Anyone have any experience with one of these? It appears Suhr is trying to capture another segment of the market with these guitars.

    Gibson ES-137 Custom. Opinions?

I've been looking at this guitar for some time but have not had a chance to get out and take one for a spin. I'd be interested in opinions/impressions from any members who have had one in their hands. ES-137

Free online SX ver. 1 user guide (downloadable)

I posted this in another thread but I wanted to make sure everyone here knew about it. Sort of a public service. Auxbuss: who publishes SX manuals/user guides recently made their SX ver. 1 manual available online for free. I guess they figured it was becoming outdated or something. Anyway...

    Amp Prices... I'm outraged!

Ok, I've calmed down but.... I look at a lot of boutique amp makers and $2500 for a head! lol. BFD handwired. There are about 3,000 boutique amp makers who say the same thing! Quality of parts... ok, maybe $500 for the internals and $300 for a custom cabinet but not $2500.00!

    Displaying guitars at home, suggestions.

Rather than keep several of my guitars locked up in their cases I would like to start displaying them for my friends to see. My only problem is that I live in "earthquake" prone Southern California. Not only am I afraid of the damage that hanging them from the wall might do to the headstock...

Guitar Center and eBay, what a joke!

So I'm browsing around eBay and I come across a nice Suhr guitar. It's being sold by my local GC. I've actually played this guitar at their store. Anyway, they have it listed on eBay for $2299.00. One month ago I was in GC playing it and the tag said $1499.00! Also, the neck was...

More pics of my amp build

Follow these links for pics of my new amp build. It has a bit of a "dark" sound but I'm able to give it more high end tone by putting a nice distortion pedal in front of it. Inside Complete Front View Side Rear For the record this is the Gilmore Jr. kit from Guytronix.

I just finished building my first guitar amp (pic)

Sorry, I just wanted to show off. I purchased the kit from Guytronix. Although I had built a tube amp way back in High School it had been some time and I wanted something easy to get my feet wet. Anyway, I'm having a blast with it. I'm going to do their "V" mod and try and brighten it up a...

Goofing off taking pics of my guitar serial numbers.

Just starting to catalog some of my equipment for insurance purposes. Serial Number 1973 Martin D-35 Yeah, I know it's sort of a useless post but what the hell.

Installing new tuners on my Tele', Staggered or Not?

Hi, I'm going to be installing a set of Sperzel tuners on my Tele' soon (or at least that's the plan) and I have a couple of questions... 1. Will a set of "staggered" height tuners still required the string tree on this guitar? The reason I ask is that I really don't want to remove the tree...

PRS Guitars... Can someone explain differences?

Hi! I've played a couple different PRS guitars (in music stores) but I've never had the urge to keep track or notice what the different models were or how they relate to price and options. Can someone give me the basic heirarchy of their models? i.e. 10 top, Custom 22, McCarty, CE, 22, 24...

Just replaced 12AX7's with 12AY7's, sweet!

I recently bought a used Crate Vintage Club 50. The first thing I did was to put in a new set of tubes (EL84's and 12AX7's Electro-Harmonix). I also had an amp tech go through it and fix a few cold solder joints, clean the pots and give it a basic servicing. The problem was that this thing...

Learning the Fretboard. I found this site helpful...

While surfing the other day I came across this site. Maybe it's my own personal style... but I really enjoyed how he lays out the fretboard and explains things. It has definately helped my playing and understanding of the fretboard. It may be rudimental to some of you but I found it quite...

Weird response to a question I had on eBay

I was interested in bidding on a Fender combo cabinet that someone was selling. All the tolex was removed from it and it was basically a bare shell with a lot of the tolex glue still on the wood etc (it was described in the ad as such). So I sent this question out. Me: "Ok, I'll bite... I...

Your comments on Washburn Guitars ??

I was in the Local GC today and there was a very nice used Washburn MG-70. I did a close inspection and no major (or minor for that fact) dings, scratches etc. I didn't plug it in since I have 2 Rio Grande Vintage Tallboys and an older (circa 1973) Gibson Humbucker looking for a home. The...

Wanted: Leslie emulator/effect (that sounds like one)

Hello, I've been trying to find an effect module that truly emulates the sound of a Leslie speaker. Years ago I had the chance to play through one and I yearn for that almost mystical sound and feeling you get from them. I know I can't do anything about the feeling of the air rushing about...
