    Laptop tapping?

If I tap on the top of my laptop I can hear the sound come out of my studio monitors. It is similar to tapping on the casing of a microphone. Is this normal?? I'm using the 3.5mm output from the laptop. It's not negatively impacting my productions, but it just doesn't seem right. :confused...

    real drums this time

I haven't posted here in a while, but I have been honing my mixing skills. I did away with electronic (V-drums) drums and have started micing a real kit. What a difference........ What I would really like to get out of this post are opinions on the drums specifically. I'm using a four mic method...

    Another phantom power ??

Hello, I know a lot of people ask about whether or not sending phantom power to certain mics will cause damage, and I think I've read through all of the posts. They all seem to just mention ribbon and dynamic mics though. My question is regarding dedicated condenser mic power supplies...

Winter - song that supposed to make you think of winter anyway

This is an instrumental and original tune. How is this mix? I was working on this at roughly the same time as the Vital Signs cover, which is probably already on the second page of this forum by now. The mixing techniques I used were roughly the same, but I think this is the better of the two...

    RUSH cover - Vital Signs

I have always loved the sound of the Moving Pictures album. So, I figure the best way to get that sound in my original mixes is to try to cover the songs from that album. It is always a work in progress. I think this is my best so far. So, what do you all think? Thanks for listening!!

on the softer side -- "Tell Us How"

I was attempting to create a lot of space in this mix so all instruments could be heard clearly. Underneath and around the beautiful vocal track (thanks to Holly Hanson), I have several different instruments popping in and out. -12 string guitar panned to one side - piano - nylon stringed...

    Original song --- LIFT

Poor Little Saturday - this time an original

The last few songs that I had posted in this forum were cover tunes. I figured it was finally time for some original music. This one was written back in 1995 by the bassist in our band. Me and the drummer thought it could use a face lift and some 21st century production. So we re-recorded it and...

Rainbow - Stone Cold cover - opinions

SoundClick artist: Allison's Engine - page with MP3 music downloads I figure the best way to learn hoe to mix is to do cover tunes and try to get them as close to real thing as possible. How am I doing? Thanks

    Backing Track / rough mix

How am I doing so far? I think I'm getting better at this mixing stuff. This is just a rough mix, a little reverb, no vocals. Am I on the right track here? (no pun intended ) SoundClick artist: Allison's Engine - page with MP3 music downloads Thanks for listening.

How does this acoustic guitar sound?

SoundClick artist: Allison's Engine - page with MP3 music downloads I tried a recording approach like this: Two mics for a stereo recording, but I didn't set them up in any of the common stereo micing patterns - XY,AB, etc. I placed one in front of the sound hole, and another directly over the...

Roland GR-50 + Roland ready Strat

I have owned this guitar synth for years and I have to say I've never made real use of it. To me it is more of a novelty, and lately is collecting dust and taking up valuable rack space.. So before I put this on ebay, I wanted to post it here to see if there was any interest. I am the second...

    Tascam backup files 2488 NEO

I recently backed up most of the songs that I had stored on my NEO, exporting the data in the "tascam" file format. Do any of you know if the "tascam2488" file format is compatible with (any, most, all) other tascam products? The reason I ask is because if in the future I decide to upgrade to...

Red Barchetta - new and improved

For those of you who had listened to the previous version - thank you - I made some tweaks and gave the bass and drums more "punch". This is just a mixdown version so it is a bit dry. It hasn't gone through any mastering type processing. When I do finish this I think I am going to have to eq the...

    Rush - Red Barchetta (karaoke)

Karaoke version of Rush's Red Barchetta. It's not exactly easy to find a vocalist that can...or is willing....to sing like Geddy Lee. So I am presenting this as an instrumental version. Enjoy.:listeningmusic: Jim Baronas - Guitars, Bass, Keys Jay Givan - Drums SoundClick artist: Allison's...
