Yea, that was actually the very first think i tried, however the new drivers just locked up - i'll be posting shortly ,but 4 weeks later i FINALLY got it working thanks to community support.
uh, the one im responding to
4 weeks later - finally resolved. The unit was never bad, it was presonus software drivers - had REALLY old ones that dont work with new UniversalInstaller which caused it to freeze up - old drivers caused major noise to emit from the left channel.
Very rigorous...
Broken :-(
My FireStudio had a bad left output  My replacement will be here Thursday, so hopefully i'll have a full writeup after i get at least a weeks worth of using it w/o the bad output.
I was wondering how the rest of you handle this. I have an audio interface (FireStudio) that i use for recording. I would like to be able to play youtube videos, mp3's, etc. from my pc - im not sure how to do this since i had to disable my internal sound device.
So, how would you go about...
Thats the information i was looking for, thank you. I wonder why of all things, FireStudio would not have XLR at least for the main outputs. Im glad you responded before i wasted money.
My studio is almost set up but i still have noise that comes from my laptop through the monitor speakers when my laptop power supply is plugged in.
Would this help eliminate some of the noise?:

Im not expecting...
Still integrating this new hardware and setting everything up - results are good so far but i'll post a review on the 2 products after i use them more - so far the quality is what i was hoping for.
Well ive found that to record with Mic's and do what i want, my GNX4 was not cutting it. So now im using PreSonus FireStudio for my inputs, using X/Y to mic the guitar, etc.... The recordings are getting better and better but i still have a lot of adjusting/learning to do. One thing i am...
I am right there with you. Ive only found 1 guitar (a 5k Martin) that sounds as good as my $700 Seagull, so im in no hurry to update. Its def not the prettiest guitar but the best sounding for the money that i could find - and i VERY RARELY have to tune it. LOVE IT!
Also, just wanted to add...
What i ended up getting...
Well after research, talking with everyone under the sun, etc. i decided and purchased:
FireStudio and a FaderPort
I'll hook em up tonight and let you know how it goes.
