Hello,
I have a session setup for live performance in which I have 4 instrument tracks with 4 different virtual synths on them. Right now, I have to click on each track when I want to switch to a different synth sound, however, in some songs I would like to use 2 of these sounds but I would...
Is there a way to add VCA tracks in Pro Tools 10 native?
If not, is there some kind of way to fake it? The only thing i could come up with was using Aux tracks and groups but it doesn't quite work the same way a VCA mix does.
I've been using DFH/Superior Drummer with Metal Foundry for a while now and haven't really liked the tones in there. It doesn't seem to sit very well in the mix no matter what I do (I'm not the BEST mixer, but they always seem to stand out in an odd way) and I am looking to try some new drum...
Hey I am trying to get a decent sounding Swedish style guitar tone via direct in. I don't have pedals right now and I know the Boss HM-2 is important to that early tone of alot of these bands but I am just trying to work with what I have right now and that is by going direct in. I have Amplitube...
Alright, now let me ask this then. I have instruments that I use that have both active and passive pickups and I record people frequently, so obviously i can't predict what kind of pickups, etc. they are going to have. If I had to pick one DI box, should it be active or passive?
I should also...
I have been trying to record guitars direct into my interface lately (MOTU 4Pre) yet the guitar signals are extremely hot, even with the trim knobs all the way down. I am not able to activate the pads on the interface when I am recording DI, so I was wondering some things:
1. Will running the...
Yeah I was using those 3-4 inputs. Then I tried the 1-2 inputs and the signal was pretty weak, but at least I could control it, however the tone sounded a little different.
These were the pickups in case you were curious

I just picked up one of those new MOTU 4 Pre interfaces and I really like it, but I was trying to do some basic tracking today in Pro Tools 9 with my buddy and his guitar signal coming in was ridiculously hot. Even though I had the trim knobs as low as they would go it would clip often and I...
I currently have a PC that has no firewire ports. I am looking into buying a new interface, and I don't really want to get a USB one. I am highly interested in the MOTU stuff because you can daisy chain their interfaces but only via optical or firewire according to the employee to whom I spoke...
I recorded some vocals of a death metal vocalist through a Shure Sm7B and when played back and when attempting to mix the vocals, it sounds to me that the vocals have the tonal quality of something like a whisper, even though he was growling rather forcefully. I was wondering if anyone can shed...
Sony MDR-V6, Hands Down. As flat of an EQ as can be, and they sound great. I use them for listening, mixing, everything. And personally, I think for about 70 bucks they are more than worth it.
Is there anything specific that you can hear the vocals fighting with? Because I the only things I really had "centered" was one of the tracks of the guitar, bass, and the kick. Are there any suggestions you might have from the sample that I could test?
I was doing a mix and I felt like I was on the right track, but I cannot seem to get these vocals to sit right in the mix. It sounds the vocals are fighting with another instrument but I can't quite pinpoint what that is. I can't exactly figure out if I should notch a spot for these style vocals...
Sorry I should have said more on that. It really just feels like the vocals are separate from everything else. I have a feeling that rolling off the highs will help. Thanks though!
I probably didn't do the "best" job, but I did spend alot of time with it really was struggling to make myself happy. It's just no substitute for the real thing. And I definitely agree with the sound whooshing at 5khz. However, since I recorded metal with this as well as the OP, I understand the...
