Tascam DA-38 Question

Hi

Currently my main mixer is a Tascam TMD 1000. Recently I purchased two Tascam DA-38 for a total of 16 tracks to record on. I purchased them second hand off ebay, they didn't have a manual. my first question is what do I need to sync the two up ?

Later on I would add one more so I have plenty of recording tracks. right now I don't have a computer Just plan to use the multitracks for now.
if I add another later in the future could the tmd handle 3 ? also how would I connect and sync all 3 up ?

There's a 15 Pin Cable and a 15-pin terminator that connect the two together on the far lefthand side on the back.

I'll dig out a manual and look for the model numbers for you.

btw, welcome to the wonderful world of the DA-38's! :D

The sync cable model number is a PW-88s. On the second machine you need an end plug model 53505155. What you really need is a manual.

The machines sync up reall nice but you still really do need a remote for easist operation. I have the RC-848. Great remote. Will handle up to 6 recorders. You should be able to find most the accesories on Ebay.

I love the sound from the DA-38's. I have three of them now. Good luck with them.

Hi

Zbert

Very cool, thanks for the manual pdf :)

Yah the I bought two seperate ones second hand off ebay none of them really had any cables. I got them from two seprate sellers at very good price

I plan to add a computer daw to setup in the future but for just going to my multitracks.

I do mostly New Age/ Electronic AMbient type music.

what kind of remote would I need to get to help the sync, for now though can they sync good with my tascam tmd 1000 mixer ?

The machines will sync up with the cables but all controls would (start, stop, puch-ins) have to be done by the machine switches. You can go inexpensive and use a 808 remote. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3278&item=7331679954&rd=1
That will only arm only the master machine but you can do all the other functions with that remote.
This is the better remote.

The mixer has nothing to do with the DA38's syncing to each other.
Also I paid a lot less than what these 2 are going for. Just keep an eye out.
