Zoom RT-323 Drum machine Midi Question.

Hi Guys

I am pretty new to using midi and wonder what i am doing wrong with my Zoom RT-323.

When using Cakewalk 9 or Sonar with downloaded midi cover tunes all the snare sounds make a cowbell sound and other drums make various percussion sounds, not the normal bass, Toms, cymbals etc. I can, by cutting and pasting the various indivdual drum midi sequences get it right, but it seems to be the long way round!

I presumed when I bought it, that the RT-323 was General Midi compatible, is this part of the problem or am I setting things up incorrectly. (if so, some tips would be hugely appreciated!!!)

I am using an S/B Live for Midi.

My guess is it has something to do with the downloaded songs your importing.

Maybe they are all offset by an octave or some other interval? (I bet an octave. Some devices count things from 0, others from 1...) If so, you could re-align them with the right patch numbers in one fell swoop.
