Zoom MRS-8

So I'm trying to get my files off of the SD card from my Zoom MRS-8 onto my computer(and hopefully into Audacity). Do I need to do a mixdown on the Zoom first?

Am I crazy in trying to do this?
 
It's according to what you want to do with them. Not familiar with the MRS, but I own a Zoom HD8, & they seem similar. You can extract each individual track ie: vocals, guitar, bass to put into you DAW for mixing. Or, you should be able to put the "master" track from the MRS into your DAW. If the second option is what you are after, then yes, you would have to do a mix in the MRS. Hope this doesn't confuse you too much.
 
I have both the "import audio" and "import raw data" functions in Audacity, both with negative results. The better option was "import raw data" where what I recorded came through, but it sounded like it was being played through an old record player. Is there something that I need to do to the files first? All I did was insert the SD card into my computer and then chose one of the two options that I listed above.
