sounds like a pretty good rock song...........around the 4:00 mark the bass drum is doing some overly heavy stuff for a song of this nature.........this is just my opinion though..........other than that, the harmonies sound great.......good work

drum's sound great!!!! i love that double bass when it peak's it's head out!!!!!! git's sound fat!! every once in awhile i could make out an echo on the vox?? barely audible, i'd like to hear that a little better, cause it sound's good. im doing my best to pick this apart!! what's that in the beginning. i can hear someone talking?? what he saying?? he he.

great tune man!!!

thank's

rick

"As you know, I only post in here when I have a tune to play "

Man,I could have sworn you were the guy who listened to my stuff and offered some good advice!
Must have you confused with somebody else!:D :D

As usual,great stuff!
Your harmonies are always extra sweet.

The electric guitar picking really sounds good, clean and big.
How do you get such a good sound?

The only suggestion I have is,mabey it's a little to long since the tempo is pretty slow.
I'd say cut back some from 3:14 to the end or speed the whole song up a little.
Is there another verse going in there someplace?
Sounds like you need more words.
JMHO

Great sound,I like it!

Pete

Good tune Emeric. You have some major 70's influences....I hear a little bit of Supertramp(I wore grooves into my "breakfast in America Album from playing it so much) in some of your other tunes.Good stuff.

Do you record with computer based stuff or a Stand alone machine?

Hey Emeric,
Always glad to hear something from you. John is smiling down on you. Everytime i hear your stuff the first thing that comes to mind is a wonder of what Lennon would be doing now. I listen to "Gone" alot. I hear alot of John there. ......great song. This (zero ...?) looks like a new emeric classic. Smoove rockin from the seventies.
Regarding the recording, I like where its going. The harmonies are beautiful. As is to be expected, the guitars sound beautiful.... full and pleasant to the ears. The lead vocs are well recorded and nicely executed. If i had to bitch about anything, and this is small mind you, the kick might be just a touch "clicky" in my opinion....... again very small detail. The panning is very nice and does not detract from the song. What can I say man.......... I'll be listening to this alot. Great song.

G (youve got my stars:) )

In some spots, I'm sure you're probably aware ...that the vocals are really low in volume. And I'm sure you know what needs cleaning up sonically...specially the beginning and ending. Nice harmonies, for sure. The guitar [mini] solo at 1:55 seems to trip over itself a little bit. I think a better take would be in order. The vocal echo is nice...I'd bring it up, actually...but roll of some high end on the echo.
The 2nd [mini] solo @ 2:44 is ??? howcome? I understand solos that use just that "special" note..but those weren't it. The gtrs and solo at 3:34 are much better. But, the "empty" 4 bars prior to that needed something other than just the chording.

Your approach to recording is interesting (as compared to many others here, and current fashion) in that you leave space, and rather than try and fill the speakers with a wall of sound, you get fairly decent sounds and keep things to a minimum.
But in this song, there are a lot of open spaces of just chording, which is ok to listen to, because of the nice sound...but musically kinda uninspiring.
I feel that your stuff would be worlds better if you used those good sounds you capture on your guitars, drums, etc...and do something a little more musically challenging. I'm not talking blazing riffing, or 5 1/2/4 drum beats... But just something that shows a little more musicianship. I know your capable, but it seems just going after the "tune", and nice recording leaves it a little shy for me. I enjoy listening to your stuff...even if you're a slacker in posting!!;)

oh yeah...I'd leave out the dbl kick fills too. Some tom rolls would be waay more interesting to me. (that don't just mimic the drum rhythm you keep repeating).

its good!

nice voice...harmonies are awesome....i like the sparsity of the guitars in this.......very nice..
i cant do anything without hiding behind a wall of sound...
"life in never a holiday"...cool.....
as others said some vox are a little lost in here...the rockin part...awesome!!!.....nice double bass drum in there too...outro...long unless your gonna eventually add words....??.

cool tune
jamal

Definitely solid. I like the recording and it's a great song, could use something though. I don't know what it is, it just seemed a little too clean or something. I'd like to hear more of the ride cymbal, otherwise the drums were cool. Nice job, keep it going! :)

I really like this tune...very Beatlesque!!!!
The guitars sound great, the vocals are great.
The drums are good just mixed a little low...
man, I really like the guitar sounds you have going here
no, the drums are ok, I am just not hearing the bass drum so well but it could be my crappy speakers.
early 70's sound with modern updates, VERY COOL!!!

Half of what I say is meaningless...
The King

I like the drums ... sounds good .... would like to know what's the set up for those ... good tune ... I guess it's not going to end they it did here ...
cheers

Powderfinger - thanks for the comments.

fenderlikingood - It's Andy the drummer saying 'Am I supposed to play here?' I think that's it. Glad you like the tune.

Thanks Gidge!

muzeman - It is a tad long, it's going to be a fad out though, starting somewhere after the end solo's. That might help it from dragging out.

Kramer - Supertramp are one of my favourite bands. Glad that came through a bit, although I hadn't thought of it in this particuliar tune. I record on a computer, delta 1010.

Guernica - Thanks for extremely flattering comments :) "Smoove rockin from the seventies." lol, maybe K-Tel will sign me? BTW great bass playing and sound on Theron's tune.

mixmkr: Yeah definetely some cleanup required. The first solo is a sloppy - agreed. The double bass (actually single bass, triplets) is at the very end, be fading at that point anyway, so maybe it will work. I'd have to re-record the drums and that would be way too much work at this point. I agree with pretty much everything you said, thanks for the details!

jamal buchet: I think I'll probably add more to the solo at the end, and fade it out. Notice there is no bass at that point either, so that will have to be added. Thanks for checking it out.

Thanks crawdad!

Barometer - It may very well need something else, just not sure what. I always think, Piano!, but then I'm not so sure.

King Elvis: Thanks for listening! The kick is a bit undefined in spots.

Fed: The drums are a premier 5 piece, kick was D112, snare SM57, overheads either C1000's or MXL 603's. Tom - SM57, floor - 421.

Thanks for the feedback.

I like it alot brother

I like your use of channels in it. Excellent

One question - what did you record the guitar through?
like what effects unit / amp ??/

I especially like the effect at 2.40 ....... and i'd love to use a sound similar to that in a song im writing. Please tell me how you did it.

once again - great
yiordanaki

hang on ... .........

the effect at 3.45 (about) . Thats awesome too . . Its the Peter Frampton guitar sound!!!

Howd u do it?

yiordanaki

Terrific song. Great listen. I liked the quick buildup of sound in the intro. I like your singing voice - smooth harmonies. Great tone on the guitars. I liked the little guitar runs at 3:46.

The vocals get a little buried in spots here and there. But that's it.

Great job.

yiordanaki: Hey thanks brother... :)

As for the guitars, they were through a POD. Recorded with washburn WI64DL electric.

I just tweaked settings until I got something I liked. As usual, I didn't note the settings or save the patch. Just tweak a bit until it fits. I really should start saving patches, can't figure out how to in that sounddiver software.

Thanks for the listen Buffalo Bob and TripleM.

I think your great sounding gtrs should basically end this "you must have a mic'd amp to sound great" fiasco that always erupts around here from time to time. Both you and Bsabbath get some amazing sounds, without amplifiers, and to me that is solid proof there that DI sources can fit the bill...sometimes better than an amp.
