Just wondering if anyone else notices this. He doesn't seem to mute the lower strings at all with his right hand when playing the higher ones, yet his playing still sounds pretty clean. How is this possible? If I play with distortion like that and don't mute the low strings, they ring out and cause all kinds of noise.

And just to clarify, I'm not talking about palm muting. I'm talking about muting lower strings to keep them quiet.

Left hand muting techniques maybe? or three Rocktron Hush units in his rack?

Probably thanks to a good guitar tech and a really good action setup. I don't get a lot of noise from my strings either when I play the higher strings. I used to until I had it set up by a really good pro in San Diego a few years ago.

Hmmm ... maybe the set up is it.

It can't be the noise gates, because it would open up as soon as there's any playing whatsoever, so if he's playing on the high strings, the gate would be open and allow low-string rattle (if present) to pass through.

Just seems odd to watch.
