Hey man...welcome.
Kinda' reminds of early "Smiths," sorta'...not really the song so much as your voice and the way you're singing it. Personally, I think that's a good thing.
The drums come in weird. I downloaded it and listened a few times, and it may be in perfect time with a metonome, but it sounds screwy...and trust me, if I noticed it, others will. I have the rhythm of an epileptic on crack.
I liked the low bg vox, and I thought they were mixed well.
I also like that there's a distinguishable chorus...LOL...don't laugh, I hear a lot of tunes here that just kinda' melt together.
In terms of the overall mix, I think the drums are probably too low, but I like your vocal where it is, so if you bump them up, make sure the vocal doesn't get lost. Also, I know this is kind of an interim working version, but you're gonna' need to add some highs into the mix somewhere...maybe not EQ, necessarily, but some element. Sounds pretty good when the snare starts cutting through about 1:00 in. All this might be helped a lot when the high hat, snare, and ride are pulled up in the mix.
But again, maybe that's another reason that it reminds me of the Smiths...they never mixed drums very loud, but it worked. Try this, cut some of the lows between about 125 and 500Hz. It sounds like the mud effect is maybe robbing the mix of some "sheen," ... God, I hate that word. But I think doing that will help a lot.
END...lol.
Again, welcome
