hmmmm,

gidge does know his stuff. Woww, i read the lexicon MPX read thingies, they aren't too pricey, but wow reading about them is like reading chinese. Can you explain to me what it does? I'm a bit confused. Thanx =).

I use the following for gigging and recording:
BOSS GX-700 (rackmount version of the GT3)
Alesis Midiverb
Behringer 2 ch. 31band EQ (dont hate me for buying behringer)
Pod Pro (rack version of the pod)

I use 'em all when i play live:
BOSS into Pod for electric and semi acoustic guitars.
Alesis Midiverb for vocals
then eq the whole lot and throw it out my pa

recording:
boss into pod into eq into Compruta - electric guitars
a touch of alesis reverb and eq on the vocals - most vocal effects are done after ive recorded though.

It depends what recording setup you have. If you use a compruta and have a decent program (like logic platinum) with plugins then the effects you can put on the voice are often higher quality than the cheap vocal effect units that you can buy.

At the same time my alesis is great for live gigging and produces a definate "studio quality", but for ease of use i just use the plugins.

DO YOU HAVE A BEHRINGER MIXER?!?! because if you do then its ok for us to hate you.

yes... yes i do - i admit it.

But i am looking to get rid of it :)
Anyone out there want to buy a behringer mixer... anyone :(

rackmounted pod (pro)

Instead of the pod being the little 2 red bums that most people associate witht the word "pod", the pod pro is a unit that fits into two spaces of a rack. This means it is like 48cm (not exact) in length and about 9 cm high. It's features are the same - but has better inputs/outputs and its a lot easier to change settings etc. It is a much more "studio" oriented piece of equipment that lets you run leads in and out of it and into other effects much easier than the original pod (like my GX-700 goes into it and then it runs into my EQ ).

I have seen very few multi-effect processors that have compression. One that I have found that does is the Esoniq DP Pro. In addition to compression, they have great reverbs. Another processor I have found is the Rolan GP-100. Ture it is a guitar processor, but it is clean enough to work on just about anything.

I tend to think of these effects as reverbs and delays effects only. Iwould hate to depend on one as a compressor too. you should have a seperate compessor.
