What multi-effects processor is your favorite for effects? (also studio effects)

hmm. I'm lookin at multi-effects processors, that I want for the effects rather then distortions. Why? Cause i'm getting a line 6 distortion modler stomp box. Hmm, should I get Boss GT3?, POD? JSTATION? nah those 2 are amp modlers. How about KORG AX1000G?
 
im not understanding your question...are you looking to get something like the pod AND a multi-effects processor?....pod, j-station have effects on them already, you wont need more....

yes, i'm getting a line 6 distortion stomp box, for all of my distortions. Then i'm lookin for a multi-effects processor that'll give me many neat effects to put on guitar and vocals. It could include distortions too if you want, I"m just lookin for the effects though. (compression, eq, flanger, delay, reverb, ANY effects all combined in one pedal). Preferably one i could use live but i guess you can name studio use ones also =).
 
Hmmm...

...a bit of a question on terminology here.

Everything you've listed is strictly a guitar processor... you wouldn't want to be using ANY of it in a studio setting for anything other than guitars!

Are you looking for studio-grade reverb/delay/chorus/etc multi-effects, or strictly guitar processors? (and if it's guitar processors, why haven't you included the POD/J-Station, etc... in your list???)

Don't know how much you want to spend, but after almost 3 decades of doing without 'electronics' playing a 12 string acoustic, I have recently ventured back into the amplified world. I have a DOD GS30 modeling pedal, that does just about anything you can think of, and does it for around $ 100-$125. I don't know too much about the rest of it, this thing is hard enuf to learn all that it can do without complicating it further. It is an amazing re-introduction to what is available now...!!!I'm sure there are better units out there, but for the $$$ I'm still finding more stuff every time I use it....
 
Ok, im finally getting it....that Line6 distortion modeler is just a distortion pedal with different distortions for about $250....ok....but if you are asking for opinions, a $149 J-Station will get you the distortion and effects...then you can get a different unit for vocals....a Lexicon mpx100 will get u off cheaper than the others I listed......

And i'm just wondering,
whats the best one for effects?
Should i really get the j station for both? i'm sure the distortions aren't nearly as good as on the new line 6 dm4.
 
If you want to use it on vocals it's gonna have to be a proper studio multi effect unit, the effects are going to be of a much better quality and will most likely sound better on the guitar too, out of these the Lexicons are the usually best.
 
for under $1000, you want the Lexicon MPX1...Im still confused on the guitar issue...you never mentioned a guitar amp in your posts, so im assuming you were wanting to go direct, not especially a good idea for a stomp box...if you are using an amp and mic'ing it, a stomp box will work...but then again, ive never heard this line 6 box before, and it may be designed to go direct?....
 
If you like the Line 6 Distortion Modeler, you may just want to check out the "delay modeler" and the "modulation modeler"

I have the distortion modeler and I love it, so I will be getting the other two. At $250 a peice, this falls well below your $1000 mark, and they each have 16 "models" to choose from.

For the $$$ , You can do no better.:)

i'm lookin for all sortsa different distortions, whicih i have taken care of (line 6 DM4). Its quite kickass. But i don't want any little boxes that are expensive made for just one effect (delay). I mean, what i need is a sorta box for effects, including either home recording effects (i need compression), and maybe some eq and all, and then an effects thingy for wierd vocal effects and cool shit, like metalizer flange and all. It would be great if i could find an effects box that is good for both or at least one. I want this box to be good for live stuff and studio, sorta like a stomp box. Anything i could use nicely live to screw with my voice.
 
that DM4 looks pretty cool....the ProCoRat and the Ibanez Tube Screamer were my favorite stomp boxes back in the day.....

If you go with a RNC compressor and a Lexicon mpx unit for effects (either the mpx1, 100, or 500, depending on your $$$) and this DM4, you should be setup pretty damn good.....

You may be missing the point of the Lise 6 delay unit, then. If you've been useing the DM4 for a while, then you know that it's not just a "one trick pony," and the other units are kinda the same...do you think you may ever want more than one type of delay? Or chorus, for that matter? Different distortions are good for different situations, and the same can be said for delays, (tape, digital...) reverbs (spring, plate...), etc. Whever you choose, it's gotta be as versitile as your music or you're already sunk.

the cool thing about this effect is that it has alot of multieffects (not including dist.) in two channels so one can be used for vocals and the other can be used for guitar or anything with a pickup.

i got a sweet deal on mine for only 41.00 at the musicians friend return center at the kc distributer. but they can be had for about 150.00 but a j-station at 150.00 is a great buy ,and i want one(ill trade my digitech rp2000 and my korg ax1b seeing how it works for both guitar and bass).;)

I'm backing Gidge up on this 110%.

Sorry rj, but I doubt very much that the Line6 Delay modeller would be anywhere near as good as a Lexicon for studio effect and vocals.
 
Could be, Vox, I'm just not familiar with he Lexicon unit, I just know the Line 6 is the best "stomp box" I've seen. What's the Lexicon go for?
