Sorry if this is redundant, I didn't read the other comments, but I offer this...
I am 95% rocker, 5% hip-hopper. I dig old school rap, but dig all music.
As a producer, I would say this...the guitar work in the middle is awesome. Use it more in the song. Of course I would say put some heavier (not extreme, just a bit more aggressive) guitar parts peppered intermittently through the song.
As a listening mixing musician, I would say this...the song in general needs more 'substance' and I think that is what you are hearing too. Breaking it down, I hear a low level of "drums", snare needs more mids and bass, "hi-hat" needs more mids and level. Vocals are great for the most part, a couple of minor intonations near the end during the falsetto parts, love the group melody singing towards the end. Give the overall mix more boost, tweak the drums to be a little stronger, and mix a little more reverb into the vocals, as well as mix the multiple vocal levels a little more "together".
Love the tune, man. Excellent job!
