You folks ever get tired of keeping this up?

We are making strides to help out the newbie with the newbie forum. That's not the complaint.

Hm. It just seems as if the majority of the complaints are about stupid questions here regardless of the forum. I didn't see exactly where it is that people are complaining about this problem happening in this specific forum especially because I can assume that the really annoying questions happen in virtually every forum because those people just want a quick answer/way to spread their music.

I'm just glad I know the function of the "Search" button before posting!

No, and my rant isn't about the newbie forum, although the majority of the threads I won't even open any longer are in there, it's more about the clinic and people using it as their own personal sounding board while not contributing anything elsewhere to this site. Even 5 or 6 stupid questions (remember the old mantra; there is no such thing yada yada doesn't apply when there is already a post with the same question only two posts down from your newer one) are better than having 2 posts, and both of them new threads to show off in.

I don't post here pretty much anymore because there are just tooooo many people. Shoot, I've been posting a long time in this forum, but many people have pretty much left back in the early part of the century. Nowadays, nobody knows who the H is Mixmkr. "Never heard of him". And we have a "new" set of 'regulars' too. (but I'll admit, I don't know many here either). Funny thing is my 4000 some odd posts are probably geared toward this clinic, and I've probably posted a pile of songs too. But that was quite a few years ago. And I'll bet that is a surprise to 95% of the people reading this... (who the "H" is mixmkr ... )

It'd be like "work" to get back into the swing of things here and I'm a musician...we don't like work, do we??? :)

However, all that said, I MUCH prefer listening to stuff here and other places VS the radio. I don't buy CDs anymore and much rather hear what someone else is doing in their home setup.

yeah...the people wanting their ego stroked.... let 'em wilt in the sun and contribute on 50 threads or more. Then maybe a comment on their tune.... phew...more work!!

One of the great things about HR is the core membership, the regulars who post, give advice and even ridicule a little. They're the ones who bring the wealth of knowledge to this place and continue to spread it around even when the same question is asked 500 times.

The clinic is one of the best places on the internet. You get so many different spins on life... way better than a traffic jam at the 5 o'clock rush hour.

Gotta admit, when I first came here, I lurked for about a year; searching, reading and learning. When I made my first post, it was in the clinic to ask how well I did. I got one response. :o But it was from a death metal bassist from Finland who totally made my day (thanks Jouni). Ya gotta love it.

Nowadays, if I hear a song that merits a comment and I can give something useful, I'll give one... regardless of post count. If I refer a post to the clinic or move it over, I always encourage the poster to listen and comment on other's posts. A community thrives on giving.

Nice discussion.

btw: K-Dub, I didn't really understand your remark about moderators. But that's okay... I think. :D

Awhile back, the only moderator was Dragon. And he was never around. This place ran amuck for quite awhile.

Ha ... I still love ya C! Nice to see ya and I hope things are well!

Rokket's answer is correct, Chili. The RP web site exists today, in part due to the former lack of moderation on HR. It got a bit rough and tumble here in the past.

It got fixed.

:) That's what I thought you meant. And as far as moderation goes, we mods don't do a whole lot of moderating. At least not too much hard-line moderating. It's mostly spam removal and whatnot.

peace.

Things are great, recording more than ever...same with getting new recording toys, treating the studio, etc.

I'd really like to get back into places like this (and RP) in the near future, as I enjoyed critiquing and receiving them. I have a bunch of new stuff coming down the pike.

But, there is a balance of actually recording and internet fun too :D

And moderation... that's around here now!! oh my! :D:D

better turn the spell check on!:)

I`ve had occasional brakes from this place.
Specially since moving my studio, not having monitors to check mixes on.
But I too usually check the tunes of the guys I know, the guys I think contributes.
I allways leave bands/artists who want to brag about theire myspace site alone.

the best ones are the guys who never comment anyone elses tunes, and then complain when the response to theire threads are weak.

wake up:D

some of the guys in here, should have a medal though.
they help out in a massive way, you know who you are;)

This place and the regulars who hang in the clinic were the ones who helped me to evolve and start making mixes you could hear. The criticism was always positive and things I could do better were pointed out to me in an honest and truthful way. So I think if people come here to learn, they will hang out. There's no limit to what you can learn. Like K said, time does become a problem, so I always log on when I get tired working on my stuff, just to have a pleasant break. And I just love to hear the stuff of the regulars, like Greg, Ray, Rami, Propman, Nak, Rokket....too many great ones to mention! So if a newb just wants to post once and than go away, that's OK by me and afterwards we can just go on being the community of friends that we are.
Me, I don't think I can do without this place....:)

Ah, I see what you mean now. That's very true.

I'm a huge lurker. Been lurking for a long time here. Dont' post often as by the time I do find something constructive to add, it's already been said. I spend time here each day. I listen to alot of stuff in the songwriting and mixing clinic. Got crap for posting my thoughts on a mix just because I've been a member for a while with only a few posts. I've learned alot from this forum and one other I read each day. Good stuff here.

If you want to see how I put it to use:

Check the My Music page. I'm not looking for approval btw. Just showing you all that I have learned alot since i started recording.

Thanks to all that do post regularly, and who have contributed some really great things here. I certainly appreciate you guys taking the time to share your experience.

Don't let that stop you from commenting on mixes in the future. Every viewpoint gives something to the person posting the mix, which is what the clinic is for.

And feel free to be more active in the forums.

See ya 'round.

I live in New England too.

I met Kdub at JF6.

He's a great musician.

Suffice to say though that the only time Kdub ever comes around to HR is when he's feeling ignored at RP.

dtb pulled the same shit with me at JF6.

In spite of the fact that dtb and I had collaborated together prior to JF6 and recorded The River together and performed it together at JF6 he did tell me that he would return to posting at RP post JF6 because he felt more at home at RP.

As much as I had admired and respected dtb..........hearing him say that blew me away because he had spent so much time posting at HR pumping up JF6.

Fuck'em if that's how they feel!!!!!!!!!!

I mean ...

Some of us have been at this, including the internet intro into the matter, for a LONG time.

We all know that there's a large new wave breaking who doesn't know shit about nothing ... even though THEY think they do......
You'd do well to read what you write and read just how pompous you come across.

Good grief!
