Hey Crawdad, great song, great voice, so well written, totally pro. Nice chord changes, too, that diminished chord or whatever it is, love that.

Dobro--I want to say how much I enjoyed your posts--all three of them! Yes, I AM something else now, but there are those moments when I see the world with 4 year old eyes and those are wonderful. I suppose what this song is about is coming to grips with being a soul in a body that keeps changing. I haven't changed much since I was a kid, but my body has taken me on quite a trip. Its funny how people relate in terms of youth or age. Shouldn't really be that way. When I'm out playing music and I get to do something that rocks, I'm 17 in my own space, even if I look like somebody's grandfather! You're right about getting the album to move to something in a higher gear. My sentiments exactly.

Mixmkr--Ohh--I like the idea of no acoustic and making it start as a piano song. Bringing in acoustics on the 2nd verse sound cool too. I'm afraid the BBTTE might take it in an unexpected direction, though. Would it be AC/DC or Striesand? Chancy to use such a powerful device on this one!:D

Kramer--Thanks very much. This was an older song which I'd never played for anyone. I'm so indoctrinated from Nashville. They'd say things like "nobody wants to think about getting older" as if that thought would kill a hit record. Anyway, I kept thinking about this song and, if nothing else, it was honest. I decided that I should do something with it. I always wanted to post a raw tune and see what production ideas the board might have for it. I chose this song for that and its been really good so far. I like almost all the ideas.

Jgourd--When is that Jamfest this year? And where? Hell, I'd rather bring a rockin' song for that jam!

djc--Na, it doesn't show at all. (From one drunk to another. Took the wifey to a great Italian place tonight and we had a fine bottle of Valpocella, 1999.)

psneddon--I'm starting to think that music is not so much about talent as it is about honesty. Aren't we tired of being spoon fed all this bullshit? I mean, a certain amount of talent is required, but I'll take expression and honesty over polish and hollywood voodoo anyday. Oh--and thank you for the nice comments.

Macle--Hey, I'm sticking up any compliments from you on my wall, cause you are the consumate pro in my book. Have you been shopping for a deal yet? Please get one and make the musical lanscape a better place! It would be with you in the arena.

Hey Crawdad, long time....

Man, I can't believe I've been away this long. Look at all the stuff I've been missing. :D Good stuff.

Just listened to this again, undrunk, and I still love it.

Fantastic song!

Sounds Great. What kind of mic and pre are you using on your vocals?

Damn...its been a while since I did this, but I think I used an AT 4033 on the vocal and an MXL 2003/V93 on the acoustic. That means two pre's--I know I used the behringer VX2000 on the vocal and I must have used the Meek MQ3 on the acoustic.

I'm soundign like Jim on the show Taxi. You know, where he sits down at a piano and starts playing all this incredible classical stuff and then says "I must have had lessons!"

djc--LOL! You mean I passed the sobriety test? Cool! And thanks!

Flash--thanks to you too! Hows the Mustang coming along?

Crawdad,
I don't spend a lot of time here in the mp3 clinic, so I guess I missed it . Just kinda trolling today. I've got only one comment....

Get this song to Randy Travis NOW.

Man, it just knocked my socks off!

Great song,
bd

I just listened to your other tunes. Your voice has a really nice character to it. Is that your son on lead vocals in that song? I'll bet it is. He sounds like you. You need to put some more tunes up dude. Good stuff.

You need to write some more honest songs. This is good song writing in my humble opinion.

Of course it hits home a little. I'm just 'a little' over forty myself.

Thanks for that--and I agree that honest songs are the best. I have a few lying around that I might post someday. I have been working on some things, but limited time. I'd definitely post some new stuff if I had any. Meanwhile, I have been working some on the final production for this song, but haven't had much time to really dig in.

Oh, that wasn't my son singing on that other song--its the drummer. Those guys are a complete band unto themselves. I just offered to work on the mix for them.
