NM - Land of Excrement
Using n-Track and Cakewalk Guitar Studio, I am fine for about 30 minutes of recording (one track audio, no effects used) when the application crashes without warning. At first I suspected n-Track (latest download version) based on a lot of discussion on this forum about the problems of n-Track crashing. But with Cakewalk doing the same thing I don’t think it’s the recording software. This is my system setup:

Processor: Athlon 1GHz
Mainboard: K7T Turbo 2, ATX Mainboard
Chipset: VIA KT133A
RAM: 768Mb
Soundcard: Soundblaster Audigy Platinum with breakout box (I think this may be the culprit)
DVD Drive
CD-R/RW Drive
Windows 2000

In checking the application log for the approximate time of the crashes it shows the following information just prior to the crashes:

Information type error; WMDM PMSP Service
Information type error; Creative Service for CDROM Access

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Thanks,

rpe

Use Google!!!

WMDM PMSP Service is a service that's installed by Windows Media Player. Try stopping it by going to Start->Programs->Administrative Tools->Services.

Creative Service for CDROM Access can be disabled the same way. It's some bullshit part of your Audigy software. Did you install the Liveware or just the drivers? If you installed the Liveware, try uninstalling it and installing just the drivers.

Thanks elevate.......

Not sure I know what you mean by "Liveware", I installed the Audigy (and drivers) from the accompaning disk. I also went to the website and downloaded the drivers just in case they were newer (don't think they were).

Liveware is the crap that Creative Labs included with the Live series of cards. The name may have changed, but I'm sure they have some new equivelant. Just uninstall anything related to your Audigy and then go download just the driver and install it.

If you don't want to do this, you could just go and permanently stop those two services from starting, which may solve your problem. It's just that for audio work, I've found that Creative Labs' software just gets in the way and unnecessarily complicates things.

thanks elevate.........

I'll try your suggestion.

Appreciate the help,
