I tried recording upstairs in my house.

using 1 mic, track 1 left while monitoring with headphones.

it was picking up radio signals. more than one at that. tape recorded it too.

unpluged mic & tried a different mic too. not the mics. tried all 4 inputs on mixer.

either has something to do with input selection or headphone monitor. but the radio signals recorded on the tape so the head phone monitor shouldn't effect it.

recorded down stairs. radio signals are not nearly as audible. only barely noticable when everything was jacked up all the way.

went back upstairs. switched to 'direct' input instead of 'left' input. and headphone monitor off. also used different outlet.

did not record or pick up radio signals (at least not noticeable). But now when i play that back, none of the knobs (eq, pan, track level, & master level) have any effect.

Has anyone encountered either of these problems (picking up radio signals & direct recording can't use eq, pan, or level adjustment on playback)?

Note: there is no other electrical equipment upstairs other than lights and an alarm clock.

I don't think the Tascam is the problem. Radio interferance generally is caused by unbalanced cables, or bad cables. Rule of thumb is, use as short of cables as you can, balanced wherever you can, and with good shielding.

But when i record with my digital 8 track using the same mic and cable I get no radio interference.
