yet another mpd16 issue

alright, let me start off by saying, im a newbie to both the akai mpd16 and this board, and im having trouble with this midi stuff.

Im a stickler for quality - and chose akai for this reason. I figured the only advantage MPCs have over computer software these days was the drum pads. I can just load some sequencing software onto my computer.

To the point: I just got the MPD16 and I got it up and running with Reason. I know reason isnt a sequencer, but its the only software I have at the moment. I just loaded it up because I wanted to test the pads out. Ive noticed that I cannot just ride out a simple beat you know like: Kick Hat Snare Hat Kick Hat Snare.... etc. There is a slight delay between the instant I hit the pad, and it plays into my headphones. It is small, but the delay is messing up my ability to just wile out, y'know?

I can hear the impact of my fingers on the pad, about a tenth of a second before I can hear the sound triggered into my headphones.

Has anyone encountered this same problem - or have suggestions for a remedy? Thanks in advance.
 
Need to know some specifics of your system before suggesting a remedy. Mac or PC? Soundcard - PCI, USB, Firewire or Soundblaster adapter? What Reason version?
 
I just looked at your other posts - and please stick to one forum in the future. What you've done is not exactly crossposting, but close --- that means asking for basically the same info or an answer to the same question in multiple forums.

As far as the questions above, I got most of my answers from your other posts and now know that you are probably trying to operate with the stock sound card or some type of soundblaster. That's where your latency (that's what it's called) is coming from. I have a Firebox and love it. Installing it on your computer will be the solution to your problem.

yes, i will be getting a firebox soon, and thus a new soundcard -

as a side note, i checked the latency prefrences on my current stock soundcard, and i was able to fix the problem. thanks.
 
Also look at ASIO4ALL (free generic ASIO driver), it preforms pretty well with stock sound cards
