Yes, just finished mixing the new band and they seem to be very happy with the results.

Is it better than the old track I submitted a while ago? You tell me. I'm pretty pleased overall (but then, I was also pleased with the old track I posted).

The new group is called "Million Medusa". The song is called "Dagger":

Sounds great to me, Harvey. Lovely guitar and bass sound. No nits from me.;)

I thought this sounded real good. Especially liked the vocal recording.

If it were me, I'd bump up the vocal just a nudge and bump down the kick. Just a personal preference though.

Sounding good. I can't help thinking referencing at a few Metallica mixes might help. The Drums sound too close and hollow and “slapless”.

I asked them to bring some albums they liked for reference during mixdown, but they didn't. I'm gonna bring the tracks to the NAMM show in January and play them for Joe Barresi and see what he thinks.

Odd to hear late 90's style nu-metal in 2010.

As strange as it may seem, you will get a heavier and fuller sound overall if you actually cut the low end out of the guitars, boost the mids on them, and boost up the bass guitar. A really bassy guitar sound can sound good on it's own but it sucks the life out of a mix. I can't hear the bass guitar on this at all, even though the guitars do sound good.

I can hear the bass.
The sound is full.
Reminds me a little of Betty era Helmet.

Sounds clear... The kick is a bit loud for my taste, but not by much. I'd drop it by no more than 1db. Guitars sound great. Vocals are like .5db too loud for me, too. Really clean sounding mix.

The link won't work for me.For some reason i keep getting internet explorer can't link to the webpage or something like that.I get that from a lot of the mp3 links here in the clinic.I don't know if it's in how i got my web browsing security set up or not.I was able to listen to the metal mix you posted a few months ago.I'd say at least half the links i try to listen to won't work.

Much Much more metal IMO from the last metal mix. Love the punchy Kick. Did you go ahead and up the mids? Sounds like you swept some mids on the low end and pushed the mids on the high end. The vox reminds me of Anthrax. I like this mix a lot. The snare still doesn't convince me though. Still too thin for my taste. I can here the closed room sound. To me, it needs to have a loud crack.

This time, the whole session was transferred to, and mixed in, Protools. The snare, kick, and all the toms were used as triggers for Drumagog samples which were then blended with the original drums. I had a lot more tools to work with this time.

I really like this track! You've achieved a tight mix which still has a lot of stereo spread. Nice work.

I'm not a huge fan of the guitar tone, it sounds digital and scooped and is sucking power out of the mix, at least for me. Other than that it sounds good.
