yet another best bang for buck thread

I've boiled it down to two choices: RME fireface 400 and Onyx 400f. I understand that the RME is probably a lot better but for 300 I'm short two preamps. am I better to buy the onyx and spend another 300 on a two channel mic preamp? I've been researching endlessly but I'm not adept at this sort of thing.... HELP!!!

These have all newly designed preamps and they will most likely be better (I know, subjective) than the Mackie or RME. But look at what else your getting...some cool integration with your DAW program, not to mention Cubase is included with it.

I've got my eyes on the N12 which is $1500, but the N8 if you only need 4 pre's is sweet.
