Yesterday I acquired an Epiphone Les Paul standard.

Somebody came into my shop and swapped it for a tattoo. It's very pretty, vantage cherry sunburst with a very well book matched flamed arch top. It's much lighter weight than Gibson LPs, so I'm assuming it's made of alder instead of mahogany. It sounds a little more mellow than my other LP. I'm thinking I may try to swap it for a Telecaster.

Without knowing how long the tatoo took ya I can't say how well you did but I think one of those Gits new is around 4 to 5 hundred bucks.

Sounds nice!

Hope you can score a tele soon!

Musician's friend has 'em on sale right now for $499.00. Prob is that all the Fender Teles seem to be higher priced than that and all the Squires are way cheaper. So, if anybody in here is interested in a swap, let me know and we'll try and work something out.

I got one of the Epi LP Studios on the way (black). The thing about Musiciansfriend is the "when". They told me it was in their warehouse the day I ordered it, and a week later, it's still not in their warehouse.

I'm getting itchy. I could've ordered one of their all-black Goth Explorers that was in stock instead.

Good luck with the standard. I'll look you up if my wife ever lets me get ink.

Hi BrainCase, welcome to the board. I think you'll like the LP, this one sounds and plays great.

Hey, man...

I have several of the Squire teles - if you'd be interested in a trade, that is...are you able to email me a pic of it? I can do the same for you of the ones I have available, if you're interested.

Or if you want to sell it outright, you can let me know what you want for it.

Hi tomhampton,

I haven't taken any pic of it yet, but I'll see what I can do about that today. I don't think this guitar was played at all, it's in very good shape.

I might be interested in a Squire Tele, but it would have to be one that was about the same value.

Here is a link at Musician's Friend, this is the model guitar it is. Click Here.

Get this, I took the LP up to Guitar Center today and tried to swap it or a Mex Tele. The guy told me he'd take it, but I'd another $200.00! I said let me get this straight, you want me to give you this guitar exactly like the one you have on the wall selling for $500.00 and another $200.00 and I get the guitar that you have on sale for $200.00? Needless to say, I split.

Hey, 'bird....

I had a feeling you'd probably hear something like that from the guy when you went in there - they're vultures, man.

Well, I'm still willing to work something out if you're interested - just email me at the address I emailed you from earlier today.

later, man.

I've got you in mind T, but I'm still going to try another place or two first.

They gots ballz the size of Texas!
You sure one of your employees didn't tatto "SUCKER" on your
forhead while you were asleep? :D

They just wanted you to give them the giutar I guess huh...

I looked at one of those online at Musiciansfriend. I'd keep it myself. Looks like a fine guitar.

Yo, Firebird! Where the hell did you find a Mex Tele for $200?!
The only ones I've seen in that price range are Chinese Squiers, and a sorrier-ass lot of excuses for axes I have never played. The Mex teles I've seen at GC are $349 to $384, and there might be 1 in 10 that don't suck completely. Some of the cheap Strats seem to be OK if you like Strats, but the only Teles I've ever played that were worth shit are American or older Jap models.-Richie
BTW, I'm *not* saying that the used car salesman you talked to was not trying to steal your guitar.

The guitar center here in town is over stocked and they're trying to get rid of a lot of things. But $200 was a typo on my part. I meant $300 and I'm rounding the numbers. the Mex Tele I was looking at did cost $349, but they did have the same guitar I brought in selling for $539.

However, I am starting to think I might hang on to this guitar. My other Les Paul has P-100 pickups, so this one sounds very different.

Hold on to the guitar firebird.... I've had one of those for 5 years and I love it..

Yo Firebird! Just a thought. I happen to like the Tele sound, but my fingers get along much better with Gibson necks. So- I ripped the classic 57 Humbuckers out of my SG, installing them in a cheap Epiphone SG special, making it the cheap expendable travel axe. We put Seymour Duncan SH-4 and SH-14 pickups in the mainline SG, with taps. Click-It's a Gibson. Click Click-It's a Tele. Click-It's a hybrid strat. Works for me.-Richie

That's a thought Richard, thanks. I'm not sure one guitar would do everything that I want it to, I guess that's why I have so damn many of them. :D

Boy do I have a DEAL for you!

trade ya for an El Degas Strat copy :D how does that sound???ahh lucky bastard, I gotta get into tattooing dammit!!!hmm this is my first trully useless post...

I am going to keep it. I used it yesterday for a little recording and it added just the right sound for the song we were working on. Sometimes you just need that Les Paul growl.
