Well Dragon has made it clear he's receptive to suggestions, etc., and Rick had some obviously sensible suggestions which raises the question.............wouldn't a more mature, productive reaction from Dragon have been to contact Rick, point out clearly that his comments were offensive and wouldn't be tolerated in the future and then discuss Rick's suggestions for the betterment of the site.............or based on the last few years, is that too much to expect around here.

Come to think of it, Dragon's apparent receptiveness could be construed as being a bit hypocritical...........he obviously wasn't receptive to the personal suggestions Rick made

I've seen Rick blow his top at some pretty insubstantial posts before, so I don't really put it past him to have some issues that he should work out in a medium other than Dragon's web site. On the other hand, I've also seen him give some extremely helpful, well thought out advice, and I think it's an absolute shame that we'll now be missing that.

I will say though that I have sent several emails to the administratives here in the past about various issues, and have never once received a response. Even when I lost my password one time, and the "password retriever" system for some reason was down, I sent several emails and never once received a response, and had to wait (patiently, if I do say so myself) for literally two weeks for whatever kinks were in the system to get themselves resolved. So with that being said, I think it would behoove Dragon, and the entire site, if Dragon found some way of receiving important messages more efficiently.

I hope Rick's ban isn't permanent, because it really would set a very uneven precedent about what the administrators here actually pay attention to, and what they don't.

AdministratoR. Dragon is the only admin. I have applied but haven't received a response yet, surprise surprise. Like i suggested before. If you come here often and have been here for say, a year or more, then apply to become a mod. This will help Dragon out a bit, and allow more than one opinion when making decisions about the site(banning etc). We should apply via both pm and email incase he doesn't get one or the other.

Actually it is. Dragon makes money from this site(although probably not much). Many people rely on this site for good advice, and Dragon just banned probably the best person on here(in the building forum anyway) for good advice.

All Rick wanted was to better this forum, and I agree it wasn't a nice thing to say, but he had to attract Dragon's attention, and everyone else's incase he could attract Dragon's. He managed to do that, so was finally heard, and we may well get stickies. But in doing so, he has sacrificed himself. Everyone knew when they read it that Dragon would ban him. I'm sure he even knew himself that he'd get banned, but for the good of the site, he had to get Dragon to hear his requests.

I think i'll give Dragon a wee PM.

Yeah well Fordvan and Chessrock had a vendetta against another member for years, and would join threads just to insult that member.

What they did was not nice, and no matter what anyone said, they kept it going. I think they deserved a suspension as a warning, and ban if they carried on. We did lose two good members there though, and Rick is another big loss. We have lost many other great members over the years though, and only a couple pop in now and again.

I think George Massenberg + a handful of other pro's hang out at Gear Slutz, and was wondering who else hangs out here, that we may not even be aware of.

Frankly, Rick was mean to people in this forum. He lost his temper countless times on countless noobs in countless threads. Yeah, a warning would be nice. How do you know he hadn't recieved them previously?

Well I've got a bad memory for names, especially when put on the spot, but a couple that spring to mind are Knightfly(Steve), Rod Gervais, MSHilarious(Jon O'Neil, owner of Naiant), Gullfo(seems to be pretty knowledgable, only posted 323 times though), Massive Master(John, seems pretty good also[Just reading on his site]). These are a few still here, I'm sure there's quite a few more. Examples of the people that used to be here that spring to mind are Blue Bear Sound, John Sayers, can't think of any more off the top of my head just now(anyone wanna give me a hand?). I'm sure there's many more...

I have contacted Dragon a few times. He did get back to me once, and sorted my problem. I was/am grateful for that. But i also witnessed countless times Rick's attempts at getting his attension, and i noticed that Dragon was of no help to anyone here for a long period of time. Now he may have his reasons, but he left noone "in charge".

You can't. I've been banned from a few religious forums before. Even changing IP address does allow you to get back in to the website, never mind rejoining. I still can't get in, even after formatting my harddrive.
