What if there's just two old bowling balls packed into that box?

It looks like it's been opened and re-packed to me!

That's a repack... the staples have clearly been removed!

Besides, who cares...... it's not like they're a pair of Adams - they're NS-10s for god's sake -- one of the worst-sounding speakers ever produced!

And a starting bid of $1000??? That's completely insane!!!

studio monitors arent used to make your music sound good, they are for accuracy......bruce you might wanna use the search function and brush up on the topic..... :D   :) :p

Hey, I love my NS-10's. My clients seem happy. And, really, "one of the worst-sounding speakers ever produced???" Surely not.

They are excellent to sit and mix on. If you want good full rounded sound that will mask everything and make a mediocre mix sound pleasing to the ear, then spend $10,000 on a pair of Martin-Logan Electrostatics.

Accept my apologies ahead of time, but, I fucking HATE when people make blanket statements on products in this manner. They are NOT the worse sounding speakers ever made, and they serve a great purpose. If you don't like them, then thats your perogative, and you are entitled to it, but it doesn't mean they suck.

I'll go with Bob Rock and Mike Shipley and all the rest that STILL use them. Those are the opinions I care about. I was just reading Shipleys forum at Gearslutz, about how he is a speaker addict and has a room full of them, and when he gets a pro job like Shania, or Van Halen, he uses the NS10's. And it's not because they were given to him for free way back when, or whatever usual rhetoric is handed back by the nay sayers. LOL.

As for the price... DEMAND. Simple as that. People are paying a grand for them. If I was selling mine, which I would NEVER, I would ask the same amount.

Joe.

Just wanted to add my two cents.

Maybe I'm just stupid (maybe? - There's no maybe about it) - but by DEFINITION aren't monitors supposed to yield a FLAT response? Hence, shouldn't they all sound basically the same? They are not supposed to sound great, they are supposed to be ACCURATE. I was under the impression (probably wrong) that the higher dollar mon's were in general just had flatter response.

I guess if the object it "best sounding", I will have no problem picking out the best ones. Here, I have been trying to find the most accurate bang for the buck......

Oh ya,

One more thing -

Name ONE album Bob Rock ever produced that had ANY success?!?!?!?!?!?

What the heck does he know?

NL5

ps - yes, that was sarcasm. I don't like Bob Rock's work for the most part, but......

Eh, for me, good monitors are what you know. Me, I know my M-audio monitors, and I'll work with them for as long as I can. My friend has Dynaudios and I know that they're better than mine...but I don't know them as well as these M-audio that's I've lived with so... I go with the M-audio.

Sorry Joe, but NS-10s are NOT good-sounding monitors by any stretch.

Yes - people can/do mix on them, and much like any monitor, once they learn them, they're certainly usable, but there are many nearfields available now that are SSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than the NS10s, there's really no point in over-valuing them.

For what they were, NS-10s were overpriced at $300/pair.... and there's certainly nothing mystical about them at all for them to be worthy of a $1000 price tag.............

Whatever Bruce, No worries.. Opinion is opinion. I guess it just irked me a bit, that out of all the places, you chose this guys ad to make the comment. I mean like we all haven't heard from the NS-10 complaint dptmt before. LOL ;)

Anyways, I'll leave it at that.

Cheers.
