I heard that yamaha doesn't manufacture these anymore, is this true? Are they good monitors?

I haven't heard anything about them being discontinued but I do own a pair and I really like them. They are very flat with little bottom end so watch your mixes. If you can't find a pair I noticed Ostaneks in St.Catherines Ontario still has a pair for around $450 (I noticed you were from Canada).
 
Yes; I beleive that they have been discontinued.

These monitors from the several thousand reviews I've read on them are the love and hate of the industry; but can be found in most studio's. They are used mainly by most for reference. Some say if you can get a good sound out of them you know it's good.

Do a search; (icon near top right) on the mixing and mastering forum here and type 'monitors' and search only titles (ns10 might also work). There are numerous threads.
