Yamaha MT1X 4 track is broken.

I have a number of recordings from my Yamaha MT1X 4 track that I can no longer access because my machine is broken. The transport mechanism is out of action although the rest of the machine works fine. Can anyone suggest someone who could fix it ?

That's a tape transport with mechanical keys to play, rec, rewind etc, correct?

If so, it might be a broken drive belt.

Do you hear the motor turning inside the unit when you press any of the transport keys? If you do, then that makes it more likely that it is just a belt. If you don't hear anything other then the click of the buttons, then I'm not sure what it could be.

Let us know on the motor sound.

As for getting someone to fix it, look up local repair shops in your area that are authorized Yamaha service centers. They should be able to help you.
